We've had our Sparx just over two years... I bought it while we were still in the US when my oldest boys were playing Squirt AA. My youngest two also skated, albeit with nowhere near the frequency of the other two. I also played a little old man hockey in the summer. We were a good hour to our "home" rink pro-shop or any of the big box hockey shops - the Sparx saved so much time and allowed me to avoid the crap shoot of who is actually doing the sharpening. Now that we're in the NL the Sparx is a godsend. Throw in COVID, goofy shop hours or even trying to track down a reliable person to do the sharpening and the Sparx has been worth its weight in gold. I honestly don't care about crunching the numbers - the reliability and convenience were worth every penny.

Yesterday, while driving to get my skates sharpened, I stopped and tried on some TF7s, then bought them because yolo. My wife bought new high heels the other day, so we are even Im excited and nervous. They feel ok walking around the house. First game tonight. I didn’t get them profiled yet, because I want to see what the forward lean is like. Because of the one piece design, toe box is absolutely brutal looking, like a ski boot. Maybe in 10 years all skates will look like this, and the separate toe cap will look old and dated. For sizing comparison, I’ve been wearing an 8.5 in Bauers, and went with an 8.0 in these. I didn’t even try on the 8.5, since the 8s felt the way I expected a skate to fit.

Is Bauer really putting a Quad Zero on every runner length? Try them on ice! I have two sets of runners for my trues´s, one is from Step and is some mm´s lower. The stock ones had been pofiled ellipse xs and the step had been profiled ellipse zero. I couldn´t tell the difference between them by eye, no matter what i`ve tryed. On ice there was a huge difference. Now both are profiled ellipse xs and one set had been sharpened twice by hand and its feeling different in my head. But i didn´t have the time to compare both sets directly on the ice. Maybe you could digitice the runners and try a comparison on a pc.

I posted a review of the Surgeon 3.1 elbows, shoulders, and shins on page 7 of this thread:

I have a review of the shoulders like 3 or 4 posts up. I’m in the same boat, and went medium.
