That I don’t know unfortunately. But if I had to base it on the release cycle I’d say a year’ish & some is what I’d put my money on.

This is great news. I am just getting back into playing after a 2 year layoff due to CoronaPacolpyse, and love the idea of having something available when my Makos are done.

  2. I loved the CCM P30, but since it is not super aggressive in any way and just subtle in all categories, I guess it was not a big seller and has since been discontinued. I took a look at the P90TM in store today. It looks decent'ish, may be worth a try, but does not seem to be it. Just looking at blade pattern charts, the Sherwood PP14 looks perfect, but has that been discontinued? I cannot find it on any sites. I am not opposed to going the ProStockHockey route if anyone has a link to a stick that is a P30 clone. I am RH, 95 flex.

Ok...during this hiatus there hasn't been much to do but train and buy stuff (both of which I dig).

Onwards...I've picked up a couple of girdles...a SuperTacks and a QRE ($40...had to try it)...just to give them a shot.  Both seem pretty cool...pretty different...both have what I consider to be a major shortcoming...no padding for for the butt.  They both have tail padding (decent...could be better); however, on the actual glutes...these ridiculously thin perforated foam pieces that not only do nothing but also get wrinkled up and folded within their compartments. Useless!  If you're a physical player...and smaller (I am...5'9" 165), you end up trying to make plays and inevitably...you land on your butt cheek...hard!  There's nothing to protect you in either of these girdles.  My pants are a bit better albeit not like my 70's Cooper pros.  Granted...they were heavier and more significantly...never dried! Heck, they're probably still wet from the 70's🤣

Anyway...I am thinking of a homemade pro-stock treatment, adding my own padding to the compartments and sewing them back up.  Nothing huge and bulky,  but certainly something more protective on impact.  Seems like a shaped insert made of CCM's D30 would be perfect, but...is there a commercially available equivalent out there?  Any other recommendations?

I've looked a snowboarding shorts as a possibility,  but finding a pair that doesn't add bulk is the challenge.   I only need butt protection (and maybe additional tailbone).  I'm all ears and currently made of time👍

Hope you are all staying safe!

I caught an edge and landed hard on my left glute and yes, I felt it. Had a deep bruise there for awhile. Considered switching to the Bauer Supreme girdle as it seems to have a lot more padding there but just figured I can live with it when I land hard on the glute next time. I do like your idea of supplementing some padding in there though.

  4. Reebok 20K Pro was actually a retail shin. I got a pair in 2014 or 2015, I believe and am still using them. I love them, except I wish they just had a bit more cushion in the knee. Aside from that they are total tanks and remarkably light considering how much Franken protection they provide otherwise (aside from the lack of knee cushion). I have taken so many pucks in the ankle area where these shine, and no other pads cover. Also, the long outer guard that wraps around the calf has seen a lot of hard shots. Somehow, despite it being real think with minimal cushion, it has always done me right.

  5. I used a BASE blade and it was pure quality. I ordered extra stiff thinking that since I am a big tough guy and have snapped and deteriorated some blades that X-Stiff would be my match. I was so wrong, and not the big tough guy I thought I was apparently. The guy who took my order advised that Extra Stiff is insane stiffness and advised against it, but I am stubborn and did not take his advice. Should have gone with the standard stiff- but anyway score 2 for BASE for the experience. The rep was correct, and the blade that was delivered was spot on for what I ordered. I did not love the curve as I thought I would, but again that's on me not BASE. If they made the P30 curve then I'd buy my next stick from them.

  6. When one realizes you cannot blame your gear on your mistakes anymore, then buying new gear stops becoming fun.

Seriously though, for me it was just about comfort. I do not like being distracted by gear that fits me funny when playing ice hockey (or riding motorcycles). It just requires perfect focus to succeed in ice hockey, I find, and stuff that fits or feels funny just drags focus away.

  7. Does anyone know which RH pros are using P90TM? I may try to find a pro stock. I was hoping to grab the P90TM when it comes to retail, but the lack of maximum height bothers me. I like a short, tall blade so I can make contact once in awhile with pucks bouncing around in front of the net on rebounds. The extra weight does not bother me, and I figure it is more than made up for if I can find a blade short in length.

I was using the P30 and loved it, but I my sticks are all bashed up pretty good (mostly from defensemen aggressively lifting and chopping down on my stick when I am standing in front of the net) and I need a new one.

The 2S Pro shins have decent protection but are not nearly as protective as the Super Tacks AS1 shins.

If I was wearing my AS1 shins I am pretty sure I would not have had this much bruising from taking a shot off the front of my shin. It's crazy how the bruise wraps around the entire calf and such when the impact from the puck was directly into the front of the shinpad itself.

Wow. I have taken more shots than I can count on the front and sides of my Reebok 20K Pros (which are actually retail) and no issue. Only complaint is the knee protection is a bit sparse padding wise. But shin/calf protection has done me well.

Does anyone know the scoop on this? I got tied up with some stuff and have been out of the game since I was all amped up and calling CCM on the daily back at this time. My stick is getting creaky and I need . new one, and want to try this curve if anyone knows an approximate release date. (Or should I just call CCM again?)

  10. Best advice I ever got was from the forum: Make sure that the inside of the cage is white. I ued a titanium cage, and when I tracked pucks coming to me, I was looking through blocks of wire and felt like I was looking out of a prison.

With a white cage interior, when I look down to track pucks, then white washes out with the color of the ice, so all I see is puck (and ice), which is obviously what one would think one would want to see. My white steel cage is heavier than the titanium, but it's fine- I will take extra weight any day and the ease of puck tracking. The cage I have also has flattened steel wire in the areas that you look through, so again, just makes it wash out that much better when looking at other players and not noticing steel bars between me and them,

  11. I’m curious about the length of the P90T. I consider the P30 to be a short blade lengthwise. Once I get to medium length (P88) I find that stickhandling becomes a bit more challenging.

i think the P28 is also a short blade lengthwise; I just don’t like how (as mentioned) the kink starts so close to the heel. Not only does it give a small area for backhands, but catching passes on the heel becomes a bit of a problem for me when moving and trying to time when the puck will hit the “wall” (and not the ramp) of the blade face. I have watched better players; they don’t seem to suffer from these nuances that plague hacks such as myself- but these are issues I need to consider when studying the curves for potential purchase. This P90T keeps sounding better and better.

If you want to get stronger do strength training. If you want to get better at stickhandling, practice stickhandling with your regular stick. Same with shooting.

I second this, and add a $10 weight to your stick:

Most people in this forum cringe a the thought of spending $250 on a game stick, let alone a training stick.

I wonder if this might come to fruition.  Total speculation, but I noticed that VH does sell retail junior boots.  Maybe down the road, they'll do this with senior sizes?

That was what started getting me thinking on this speculation. When I saw that, I thought, "Please, let it be just a matter of time!"

They already do this for goalie skates.  GM sells a stock, retail sized True 2 piece skate.  It's still their top price point construction.  But maybe a mid point version could be on the way.

This, I did not know about ...very promising!

  14. FWIW I’m hoping that True/ VH launches a retail non- custom for affordable prices (think Easton Mako M7/ M8 quality - $399.99 or so).

When I compare the quarter package of traditional skates to Mako/VH I feel like I’m comparing a ski boot body boot to a tennis shoe.

I was in Bauer Supreme before my Makos and it was nothing but problems. Ever since I got into Mako it’s been all good. Only issue has been dialing in size. I’m an 11.5/ 12 in Nike basketball and a 9.5 in Mako, but that’s just a size thing and not a design flaw.

Don’t mean to detail the thread, just saying you might be looking in the wrong place or comfort.

Thank for calling CCM for us! Did you also ask about the P90TM? Or will that not be on a retail stick at all?

Just called again to inquire about the P90T and P90TM. I thought he said “expect something next year,” which I thought meant the line AFTER Ribcor since I heard Ribcor is possibly launching new sticks in November. Then the rep said “These new patterns may be on the Ribcor.”

So I think he may have said “expect something IN the next year.” My phone is all jacked up from the vibrations of the tank of my motorcycle, so I miss words a lot. Anyway ...

I asked some specific questions and the rep could not answer in specifics - all good I get it. He just said “look around online and stay tuned” pretty much so it sounds like CCM has some exciting stuff in the works as far as blade patterns go.

  16. I called CCM this morning. The rep that I spoke with said that they are not getting rid of the P30. We went over the upcoming release of the Ribcor 4 and the sticks down the line. On the top of the line sticks, they are making it with P30. Somewhere down the line, either on the lower value sticks or intermediates or somewhere that I was not really interested in, the rep said that they will not launch P30s. I think he said it was just P28, P29 and P88 on those sticks that had nothing to do with me (but don't quote me on that, I may have gotten it wrong).

Regardless, on the sticks that I am interested in (the Pro that is usually about $150/$160), and the one underneath that that is usually about $100), we will see P30 on the 75, 85, and 95 flexes. This is great news! (Thank you, CCM!!!)

hi, I use a 75 flex in all my sticks now and to me, it feels like the flex plays true to specs. not sure if the dual kickpoints have anything to do with what you might feel. for me I would go with the 85 as I like a little more flex in my sticks, and also don't take many slap shots. hope this helps.

I attributed what felt super stiff to the shaft shape geometry- maybe that design gives more rigidity. Or, maybe STX was just dialing in their flex and has since softened up? But yes it could have been the dual kickpoint- it’s hard to sag.

it wasn’t a bad thing- I actually really liked the Surgeon. The geometry was great, and the thing was a tank for me.

i just got tired of P88 and switched to P30 and thus got out of STX and into CCM. Thinking of giving the P28 a try in an STX now.

  18. For those who have used the STX Surgeon RX3, how is the flex rating?

I used the RX2.1 in an 85 flex and I recall it seeming like a telephone pole. If the flex rating has remained the same, then it ought to be an 85 again.

Presently, I am using a Tacks in 95 flex, and it is perfect.

Should I go 100 or 85 flex in the STX Surgeon RX3?

I am 6'2, 215 lbs, and rarely shoot slapshots.

I do not like feeling bend in the stick though when I am stickhandling though.

This is where the numbers are pretty much meaningless. Bauer's P88 is a lie 6 but so is the default P92 but their lies are not even close to being the same.

For comparison, in my experience, the P90T and P30 have a lie very similar if not identical to the P88. If you line up their rockers the shafts will be almost directly on top of each other.

A P92 (the default 'lie 6' P92, not the pro stock P92 Lie 5) compared to the P88/P90T/P30 will be higher/taller.

Is the P90T the same as the P90TM?

And is the P90TM a CCM exclusive?
