    Speedz98, just saw your post. So sorry to hear about your loss. We have three dogs and I'm dreading a day like you had. Glad you could be there with your buddy at the end. I don't care so much for people, we have a tendency to be dickheads at times, all of us, but dogs love unconditionally, sincerest condolences to you and yours

    Tomorrow night - Winter Beer League hockey season starts back up

    Saturday night - Tickets for the UFC at Verizon Center, Bantamweight title fight

    Next Weekend - Pittsburgh for a wedding

    Weekend after that - My Birthday

    4 days after that - 7th Wedding anniversary

    Weekend after that - Back home to Ireland for my cousins wedding, and god almighty piss up of epic proportions.

    Not a bad little october upcoming!!

    July 16 - Fan Fest

    The Details

    Fan Fest returns to Kettler Capitals Iceplex at the conclusion of Development Camp in July. Events include the annual equipment sale, prizes, games and more.

    How it usually works is Season Ticket Holders can sign up and are allotted a slot (8 am, 9am, 10 am etc). They restock the place after each session and then have a final public session at about 1pm

    I'm not sure what the Canadian/other breakdown is here, but the Discovery TV network in Canada have a show called Best.Trip.Ever

    They are using the music from my cousins band back home in their promos. Band is called Soundproof. 4 members, 3 brothers. The brothers mother and my father were brother/sister.

    I hope it springboards them to some sort of success in North America, as they work their bag off for everything they get

    Caps looks like it will be July 23 here, last day of rookie development camp. That is when they have had it in previous years, with the one exception being the disaster year when they decided to have it at the "caps convention" thus making you pay $50 just to go. Big outcry, back to development camp next year

    Season Ticket holders get to sign up for the early sessions, and the public sale is usually around 1pm (they restock for each session, including the public, so it's not like it's just the leftovers at the public session

    My Thrilla in Vanilla stout just placed 4th (honorable mention) in the Spirit of Free Beer homebrew competition. I am very fucking chuffed with this. There were 506 entries across all categories of beer. Still waiting on scores but they posted the results and there I be.

    The SOFB homebrew competition is one of the biggest homebrew competitions in the area here (as evidenced by the over 500 entries). So to have my beer finish high in it's style category was a pretty big deal for me.

    Couple of things arrived/I picked up today. My local pro-shop in Laurel MD has last seasons Bauer gloves for 30% off. I picked up a pair of One95's for $73.50

    And the Ballistik 50 Caliber I got from Stock07. I currently use the 45 Caliber, so I'm excited to move up to the 50 Cal.

    My sweet spot for today/tomorrow...

    Just watched those cheating french pricks get beat 2-0 my Mexico, meaning they may crash out of the world cup in the first round, which would be glorious, and they haven't scored a goal yet

    In addition to that, today is my friday.

    I always take a day for the world cup over here.

    Tomorrow, about 7 of us are off work, and going to the pub at 7am for the Germany game, followed by the US game, followed by the England game. It's going to be a good day

    With a playoff spot guaranteed I don't see the point in playing him 27 minutes. Might as well rest up as much as they can for the post season.

    Side note, anyone going to the game tonight at Mellon? I'd give my pinky finger to be able to go :(

    The Pens would be much more comfortable in the #2 seed than the #4.

    The Rags/Flyers play their last 2 games against each other, so that will determine which one of them gets into the second season.

    Montreal/Philly/Boston/New York would be a much more favorable match than Ottawa, given how the former 4 have played since the olympic break compared to the latter.

    I understand Bylsma wanting to get the better matchup. I also think the Sens have flown somewhat under the radar this season because of their poor start and could be a tough out.

    Chiarelli has a lot of work to do in the off season. My guess he will try & move Thomas.

    If the caps playoffs flame out because of goaltending, I wouldn't be surprised to see them go at Thomas. The caps and Bruins have a trading history together (Oates, Gonchar, Nylander etc)

    I'm watching the FSN feed and even they admit the Pens got away with several things that should have been called.

    Fun fact, in the 14 games the caps and pens have played since the start of last season (4 reg season, 7 playoffs and 3 reg season games this season) the Pens have had more PP's than the caps in 10 games, with both teams getting even calls the other 4 games (this includes last nights 5-1 pp's called advantage to the pens)

    If the NHLPA was smart (and thought the players were clean) they would organize a full team test to put this behind them before the playoffs.

    This is a follow up to a story that broke last year when some guy in florida was arrested for distribution. Turns out he was selling to a VA Chiropractor who had treated 3 caps players for routine chiro (Fehr, Morrisson and Bradley). He is not on staff, however his practice is in the same place as the caps training facility (hence the few players going there for treatment).

    He has a sign in his window "Chiropractor, washington capitals" which prompted the questioning of the caps.

    Since the story broke last time, every member of the caps was tested twice, and every single test came back clean.

    It's a non story by the look of it

    As a Pens guy, I'm not really concerned that NJ swept the season series. Like Smoke said, WSH took 'em all from PIT during the regular season, and we all know how that ended.

    What's eye-opening to me is that the Pens' record against teams ahead of them in the overall standings is 0-11, with two of those losses in OT/SO if my memory serves me correctly. That's not going to get it done.

    I saw that on someones twitter today

    Japersrink - Pens' record against the 6 teams ahead of them in standings: 0-10-2. GF: 1.25 per game, GA: 3.92 per game, PP: 1-for-44 in those games. Wow
