VH Footwear/TRUE by Scott Van Horne
VegasHockey replied to dsjunior1388's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
How old is your son? -
With skates of that size, I would recommend single radius profiles. Personally, I like starting them at a 15ft profile at that size.

Customer has a stick they want to repaired and not replaced.... Anyway, the stick is overall in excellent shape it just seems the player has been shooting heavily off the toe and the resin is very worn and it's now eating up the composite layer of the balde toe. I usually use marine grade epoxy/resin to repair cracks and chips in stick blades. Would I use the same for the toe? Does anyone have a better recommendation?

Hate those stupid bolts. Too many times have I lost them when changing out steel on the bench. I wish Flare would make steel for the VH/True holder. I really love that holder. It's incredibly stiff and rigid.

A couple if questions about Ribcor sticks.

Not anymore, from what I understand. -

If it doesn't have the rib at the bottom, it's just a low kick stick. It's not a true Ribcor. -

Customer frustrations with Warrior Alpha shins calf strap
VegasHockey replied to VegasHockey's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Yeah. All of our customers are going with CCM since they have that new calf strap system on the Jet Speed shins which is great. Just don't understand who in the world thought this tiny slice of cheese would be long enough for any normal sized person. You would have to have zero calves in order to strap it. So stupid. -
People should stop wasting time with all of the gimmick stuff and just use Flare steel. Biggest change I have ever made in my life when it comes to tinkering with equipment. Just waiting for the new CCM holders to go GA and for Flare to be released for them and I'll be set for the future. Need to get these Tuuks off my Trues ASAP.

Doesn't matter which is more heat moldable? If they are building the skate using high compression heat both either material is just fine. After all, Curv is basically just recycled plastic soda bottles.

There is no 2N Pro coming from what I understand.
-
It is. Yes. Nexus 1N/2N V-Cut it seems.
-
I meant the shorter more ergonomic toe cap.

Looks like it has some hints of Mako in it 😉

We just got in a decently large shipment of Warrior shins. I have used the Alpha QX Pro in the past and had no issues but it seems Warrior changed the rear calf strap recently. It's REALLY SHORT. Not a single player who has tried on a 14" - 16" is able to get that rear calf strap around and attached to the velcro. Is anyone else seeing this? Did we just get a bad order? I have a hard time telling someone who is spending $150 on a shinguard to cut straps off for them to fit properly I noticed this only on the top end models, the Alpha QX Pro and Alpha QX.

Swapping out True holder for CCM SB 4.0
VegasHockey replied to jvincig01's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I have multiple pairs of True skates, but my shop is also a custom fit center so we scan and fit customers too. Love them. It takes a little time to get used to the weight and such but after you adjust there really isnt a better-built skate on the market. Can your local shop do a ProSharp profile? What size skate and holder do you have? -

Swapping out True holder for CCM SB 4.0
VegasHockey replied to jvincig01's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
The VH/Step, CCM, and Tuuk holders all weight about the same. It's the steel that is very heavy. If you go with short steel you will save weight. I recently had to grind down about 40% of a players Step steel because he didn't like the tall steel and the added weight. If you want the absolutely lightest combination that would be Tuuk holder with Byonic steel. Like this -

Yes, profile the steel. Dont swap holders. Thats just silly. -
Does taping the toe really protect the blade?
VegasHockey replied to shoot_the_goalie's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
It helps protect from minor collisions with objects. However, its merely cloth tape so anything substantial will still damage the structure of the blade. -
LS4 blades keep breaking ... best alternative?
VegasHockey replied to JONES199's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
So the holder is covered for one year and the steel is now 90 days. Sneaky. -

VegasHockey replied to JONES199's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
Are you sure? I think steel.amd holders are still under 1 year. If not, can you link me to such. -

Bauer should replace them under warranty if they are less than a year old. They have always been good to me about such. -
CCM FT390 are a good lightweight and protective pad.
