Are you not at all able to go to a store to get try them on? Personally I'd return both at this both and start from scratch.

Given how a few pages back there was a whole discussion about the surprise that very few shops are carrying these, I think it's safe to assume that a lot of folks don't have the opportunity to try them on. I'm not saying that's the case here, just that this is one skate that is definitely not so easy to find in stores to try on.

The chrome XN10s (Made in China) weren't as good as the Made in USA and Made in Canada XN10s.  That is a FACT!  The chrome stick didn't have nearly as nice pop or balance + weight of the domestic sticks.

Also a fact; the XN10 was supposed to be chrome to begin with and not 2.5-3 years later.  Was told it couldn't be done at the time...

The blade on the chrome Chinese ones was terrible, soft and weak.

It took the better part of a decade of dreading going to work every day, but we finally made the leap of faith into a new career for myself, and it is delightful.

That's awesome. Good luck on your next adventures.

Did it years ago, left teaching in NYC public schools (absolute disaster) to run a bookbinding business. Just sold the business and moved out to Phoenix AZ to take a new teaching job and I love it

Absolutely loved the XN10. I had a couple of them. Would it be possible to find any of these new anywhere?

Not a chance. I have 2 in pretty good condition but I wouldn't sell either of them, and I would expect that if you ever met anyone else who has one they're also not looking to sell ever

Don’t want to sidetrack this thread too much but I just wanted to point out that Eagle does offer a  heavy customizable glove, right down to finger length, gusset height and custom add ons. I was in the process of ordering a pair just before Covid and was in direct contact with their factory so I’m not sure where you got that information.

They are still making one of if not the nicest custom gloves on the market.

In regards to leather, since it has been a banned material by the NHL for a few years now and companies as a whole have stopped using it, it’s understandable that it’s only still available in niche markets. Eagle do offer a leather palm overlay, not exactly the same but again, it’s not a commonly used material anymore.

Could be. I was told they couldn't even make me a 15" PPF x905 (14.5 is the PPF+ size) and that they didn't have any leather palm options, not overlays. I never heard that the NHL banned leather, pretty sure Crosby still wears leather shells. Anyway, this is way off topic, but I've probably bought 8-10 pairs of Eagle custom gloves over the last 20ish years, and the options that they offer now are significantly less than what was available in the past.

I found with the lower boot cut and standard eyelets on the Ultrasonic that the newly redesigned tongue doesn't limit forward flex as the previous generation did.

For sure. I was trying to say that even with the old eyelets and standard height, just changing the tongue was enough to address the lack of forward flex. I'm 200lbs and skate hard, and even I had a tough time with the og tongues, but swapped for regular felt tongues with a pu lace bite protector and I was fine. I'll bet a half inch lower and more moldable eyelets only help even more

They are definitely more forward flexible with the standard eyelet system as copared to previous models but they still feel very much like a Supreme MX3/1S/2S, just more refined in some ways. Dont hate them. Dont love them. Im just waiting to finish this last conference call of the day and then I am heading into the workshop to tinker.

Yeah I swapped the tongues from the 2s pros so I never had the issue with forward flex that everyone complained about with the stock tongues, even with the stick eyelets

Had my third skate with these today. The overall review would be, meh, at this point.

Maybe I am just used to TRUE but these still don't give me that connected feel with the ice.

I have pain points and discomfort in multiple areas that I am going to have to work out. My profile doesn't feel right, the boot must be pitched differently or Bauer mounts there holders more forward or back than my TRUE ones since I feel very off balance. I dont really care for this flexible tendon guard but the new toe cap is nice. Ankle padding is very comfortable and the clarino liner actually extends all the way into the toe cap with the toe cap having a little bit of felt on the top which is also nice.

I think I need to spend a little more time trying to tweak them before I can give me full official feedback. As of right now, they seem decent enough to wear in a low-end drop-in or pick-up hockey but if I was skating with the usual group of players I would definitely use my TRUE skates. I feel like I am playing C-league with these on. I am much slower and unsure of my edges due to the balance-related issues.

I am going to spend the day messing with them and then will try and get some ice time tonight.

What were you using before the True customs?

I havent seen a custom glove order in a very long time, other than team gloves.

I took a break from playing from end of 2016-middle of 2019. Warrior had already stopped doing full custom, but Eagle was still doing it. At this point Eagle's custom options are fairly slim. The basic stuff of swapping cuffs or mixing designs from different models they can do, but the heavy customizations are not available anymore. I wear leather gloves or leather palms at the very least. At this point the only leather palms Eagle offers are Digital (not even sure if it's real Pittard's Digital) and Mustang, which is sueded. So the only option for leather palms is a custom repalm job, which goes for over 100 bucks. If I'm paying $250+ for gloves I'd like to get palms that I want. At this point I have 2 pairs of custom  L29s (From before my 2016 break) and a pair of black H34s, so I'm probably ok for a long time, but I kinda want a new pair of tan H34s like i used to have. I was gonna settle for the Cali Tan portofino but they wont even do goatskin palms. I'll probably eventually do it and just get digital pro palms so I can rip through them quickly and justify a repalm in either goat or kangaroo.

Anyway, my point was just that custom options have significantly decreased across the spectrum, although I'm not familiar with custom stick options.

I have a pair of custom one95s that are the full custom, when I went to get my new skates I knew I was going custom and was told myBauer was the new way they did customs. My one95s have two different lengths, increased height in the quarters to add volume, I was able to get an E/A last that fits my foot nearly perfectly, clarino liners, extra stiff, additional ankle padding, double stitching, lower cut boot height, and on the one95s I had the mega flop white felts, I wasn't going to get those this time but I had A LOT more options my last go around. This was obviously well before foot scans were available at least to mere mortals like myself so everything was done based on tracing and tape measurements around 4-6 points on my foot and ankle and the skates fit 100% perfect in my estimation.

Not to get off topic but I went in wanting CCM total custom AS3 Pros, between my supreme one95s and my new skates I wore first gen one piece boot super tacks in just a retail build, they fit well but not perfect. I thought the AS3 was the next logical step but I couldn't get over the feeling of my toes going numb with the new tongue attachment system and I was told you can not have the tongues sewn in opposed to the new system even at the total custom level, as well as they had done away with offering lower cut boots and additional height in the comfort pad (I was going to get 3mm off the stock boot and add 3mm of comfort pad) so then I started trying on the ultrasonic since I had experience with Bauer customs in the past.

At about 45 minutes into the fitting it was seeming as I wasn't going to get what I initially came in for so I started to settle, I was told you can only do FIT 1 2 or 3 even in customs, no more option for forefoot and heel width, you can't add height to the quarter package, and you can't remove height from the boot cut. I was recommended a fit 3 on the scanner but every fit 3 in the store felt too deep and wide, but fit 2 was a hair snug in the width from my ankle bone to my toes and the volume was a bit shallow so I had to decide that I thought going with a fit 2 and the low profile tongue would open up the volume of the boot but that still didn't solve the width issue.

I ended up ordering 9.25 on the right 9 on the left, fit 2, molded felt tongue pulse Ti steel (wanted to try the power profile but it came with a stock 10') and the standard ultrasonic liner because it seemed better than the one very similar alternative, would have loved clarino the only reason I need to replace my Super Tacks is the microfiber liner is falling apart on my right skate.

I received the skates a few weeks ago and they fit alright, now with the molded felt the volume is a bit loose, width is a bit tight (opened up a bit with two bakes) and the insoles were way too short, when I asked for some that fit the only ones they had were from the APX2 vapors and they don't really fit great either, small thing to complain about but at nearly $1200 I do expect the insoles to fit properly.

I really wish I could have gotten the skates in the 9.25 and 9 lengths, E/A last, increased quarter packages and ankle padding, clarino liner, lower boot cut, traditional felt tongue, and double stitching. I still like my new skates but I do feel like they could have been done a bit differently based on my past experiences.

This is the reality with most custom nowadays. I know with gloves the custom options are basically nill compared to what you used to get. Eagle and Warrior are a joke now. Most shops are very limited in custom work. Graf will still do very custom stuff, as will Bauer and CCM but you really have to know someone to get it done right.

I worked at a shop when the V-form rep came by to get us to try them, we all looked at each other said why don't you just show us...

V-form rep got a full head of steam going in the parking lot and tried to prove you could do a hockey stop on them, he went down hard on the concrete! Did it a second time and it just turned into him looking like he was sliding into second base and ripping his pants. We had a good laugh that day.

Haha that's wild. Nexed put out a similar frame back in the day. I don't remember anyone having an issue stopping on them though

So tf7 is true to size for u?

I didn't bake the 7s, but they definitely felt more snug. I wear 9.5 Bauer Supreme D and I usually have to punch out the pinky toe are and forefoot, sometimes also the arch area. In the TF9s I could do 9 on my left (smaller) foot and 9.5 on my larger right foot. In the TF7s I needed a 9.5 even for my left foot, and the 9.5 TF7s were fine on my right as well. If I would have kept them I would have punched a bit in the forefoot of the right, but that's basically it.
