  1. How much better is the 8's puck feel than the 7? Does that new insert give better feedback through the whole blade or just the heel? I'm using a 7 non pro right now and sometimes it is hard to tell where the puck is if it isn't on the heel. I never have that problem with nexus sticks.

There is no rocker, it's very flat like a P88.

The blade opens a lot at the toe, like the P90. It slightly more open than the P90. It is definitely a curve for a shooter.

Does the toe hook and rocker like the 90? From pictures it looks like it’s a little less of both. Also are you talking about the p90tm or the ccm’s pro stock p90?

Check out the T27 by TRUE. Similar to the P14 but less rocker. If you can't find any good pics online, I can snap some for you. I recently moved from the P90 to the T27.

How’s the rocker and openness compared to the p90tm?

I was actually thinking of buying a lower end true to test the curve and hopefully get better durability than their higher end models. Is the lie actually a 6 or does it feel lower? I’ve read both from other places.

Bauer P14 is very rockered at the toe. Closer to P28 than P88 in that area.

P89 might be interesting for you if you can find it. It’s a bit more open than P88. Easton’s version was even a bit more open than that. It’s a beautiful curve but it’s subtle, so it’s never taken off at retail.

Is it flatter around heel and mid of the blade? Also is the toe as rockered as the p28? I didn’t mind that curve as much besides the openness

    I agree with this. My evolution was from a W71 > P14 > P92 > P28 > P90T

My biggest issue with the P28 is the shape of the face. I hate the extremely round toe and prefer a more square shape similar to a P92.

Both P28 and P90T require you to shoot off the toe and both are great for pulling in the puck for toe drags and such.

That being said, I recently tested out a P92 with a P28 curve pattern and liked it a lot. I think that will likely be my next curve pattern.

How are the rockers on the p14 and the w71? I prefer the rocker on a p88 and both of these look flatter than a p92.

Depends on what your definition of P14 is…

•P14 in CCM = PM9: flatter rocker than most.

•P14 in Bauer is a very rockered blade. Closer to P28 style than P92. If you don’t like much rocker run in the opposite direction.

I think my issue was p92 was too high of a lie and p28/p90tm pocket was too close to the toe and I’m used to stick handling on the middle or heel of the blade. Is the p14’s pocket as close to the toe as the p28?

I just received a pro stock P90T today from HockeyStickMan. Sort of reviving this thread as someone who's a long-time P88/W88 user looking for something with a bit more loft. I've tried both the P92 (True TC2) and the P28/W28, and the big thing that killed those curves for me was the rocker. As you can see in comparison to the pro stock W88 curve I've been using (white tape), the P90T (no tape) has a fairly similar length of flat spot to it, although it's a bit closer to the heel and has quite a bit more lift towards the toe. Unfortunately this P90T has a higher lie than the W88, so I'll be cutting it down a bit more than usual, but overall I'm hopeful this is what I've been looking for. Wanted to put this out there as a resource for other P88/W88 players looking for a change.

how is the lie compared to the p28 and p92? I use a p88 and the p92 seems a little too high and I lose the puck off the toe and heel, and I lose the puck off the toe of the p28 because it's a "lie 6" I believe.

I've tried the Malkin, McDavid, Barkov, Hossa, Panarin (supposedly a P19 close but plays just like a P92), P38, and Backstrom curves. Please don't tell my wife. I've talked with Geppetto a number of times about trying to find something like a loftier P88. The Backstom has been the closest in my opinion. The MacDavid is sort of similar to what you're looking for as well, except that it's a 4 lie and that has been a very difficult adjustment for me (it's based off an old Iginla Jr curve). But it shoots nicely. I'm just trying the Barkov right now, which has a bit of loft at the heel like the Darby and a little bit of hook at the toe, but overall is actually a fairly straight curve. I dunno, I feel like I've exhausted all of his options for someone who is not a toe curve shooter, so I might just give up and stick with the P88 as the trade off with the P92 or P90TM is better shooting for worse passing, which isn't worth it to me.

does the Malkin play just like a toe curve version of a p88? (assuming you used the first version of his curve)

I think the P19 would have been a candidate, but it's not offered at retail anymore. Otherwise you are sorta out of luck here. I'm a long time PM9 and P88 user and there's just nothing out there at retail that matches this description. The closest I have come to finding a loftier P88 is the Pro Backstrom curve from Pro Stock Hockey Sticks. It's closer to a P88 than P92, but it begins to open up in the mid-heel and has a nice, gradual curve. The downsides are that the blade is longer than the P88, has a shaved down toe similar to a P28, and has less overall height than the P88. I really do wish someone, anyone, would come up with exactly what you're looking for - the flat rocker and slightly lower lie of the P88, but with a little more loft.

have you tried either of the Malkin curves or the point curve? I was looking on that website today and those plus backstrom were the only ones I saw that could be compared to the p88.

It's a Source For Sports, now. Their website needs some serious help. Bunch of stuff listed that isn't in stock. You can order it but then you'll get an email a few days later saying they didn't charge your card and the item is out of stock.

I emailed them to check and the stick I was interested in is out of stock
