  1. I've been using this helmet since it's iteration as a 3000, then went on to have a couple of them as a 4000, and have had three or four 4500s since. When National Sports went out of business in Canada a couple years back, I picked up two more just in case this happened. I still wear one with a bird cage for men's league and another one for coaching. It's also almost time for my son to get a new lid and I keep telling him how great the 4500 is, not sure he agrees, but we'll see what he likes best.

In that vein, modsquad users, aging hockey nerds of the internet, what “vintage” gear do you want to see reissued? Either updated for modern play, or manufactured as was. And you can define “vintage” however you want.

Before Easton was absorbed, I would have liked to have seen a one-piece stick branded/wrapped like the old Wayne Gretzky shiny aluminum twig...

How did you find the difference in fit? I found the new Supreme skates to be more snug throughout the skate, but especially near the back arches, heel and ankles. The previous generation Supremes fit very similarly to the current Jetspeeds to me (excluding the FT1). Bauer said they thickened up the interior padding, as well as the wrap shape a bit.

I also found the tongue to be too thick. Maybe it's something you'll get used to, but, for me, it felt bulky. I think it's supposed to help push your foot back on each stride, but perhaps it makes every stride/ankle bend a tad more laborious.

I actually find that i have a bit more room in the toe box, but the ankle and wrap is much more snug, which I like. I agree that the padding definitely appears and feels to be beefed up.

I even took my heat gun to the inner side of the tongue after baking. Tried to press out some pressure points I was feeling on the top of the foot. However, when hot it was totally mold-able, but once cooled and set again I experienced the same feeling. I think more time on the ice will help, but if it keeps being this stiff I may look at getting another tongue as a modification.

  5. I've just started wearing the 2S Pros and they're so much stiffer than my previously pair, which were 180s. I find the lacing system is awesome, however, the tongue is too thick and i find that it isn't all that comfortable, even after baking. In my opinion, the LS5 steel is the biggest difference/improvement, but as mentioned above, you need to actually skate in them to feel the difference.
