Well apparently not a heart attack. Doc says he doesn’t know what it is but it’s his job as an ER doctor to make sure it’s NOT on his checklist of emergency items, so he STRESSED he doesn’t know what it was and said to follow up with my doctor 3-5 days.

I dont like the low O2 level.  Have a cardiologist?  May need to look at this more deeply.  Maybe a blockage.

Prayers for mom and wife... you've got alot on your plate brother.

Wow, three stents. Well, the one they put a stent in was 100% blocked.

I read through these handouts they gave me. I know what I can't eat anymore and what I should be eating. I'm on blood thinners too, and now, I can't get hip surgery or cortisone shots because of it.

Hope you have fun at your next game.

Thanks.  Hopefully with the thinners, Lipitor and Vespeca and the fact the my LDL is down to 30 I wont have to worry about the stents blocking....

  3. The time has come!!!!  Just got  invited to a small private skate on Friday and I'm going. Only 10 guys. Invite only for guys who take the pandemic seriously and have been distancing and wearing masks. No locker rooms. No scrimmage. Just skill drills and shooting.  No locker room either.  This feels safe and I am going to take the dive and play!!!  Very psyched. It will also be the first time I am on the ice since my stents were put in so it'll be great to see how I feel on the ice now.

  4. First off, thank God you are ok.  I didn't have a heart attack but I had three stents put in on March 2nd so I kinda dodged that bullet. I never felt symptoms but I had 3 90% blocked arteries.  I was supposed to take about a month off and then Covid hit so I haven't been on the ice.  Even though I am on some pretty heavy duty thinner the doc said I could play as long as I am careful.  I'm down over 20lbs and walk and ride and roller blade every day so I can't wait to see how I feel on the ice!!!!!

I dont think there is any reason you cannot play.  To be honest once you get your get your diet and weight in line you'll be as good as new and hockey will help you.

Just got news today that I am invited to a very small and safe skate on Friday so I will let you know how it goes.

If you want to talk diet, recovery, etc send me a PM.

Adult Hockey in Mass was supposed to restart 2-3 weeks ago. The day before it was to re-open, the reclassified it as a "high risk sport" (or some similar wording), and now there's no timeline for restarting. But, there are other things restarting that have similar contact and close breathing as adult hockey.

I have low grade asthma, and I'm real on the fence about playing. Along with going to shitty punk shows, playing hockey is my favorite thing. It sucks not playing. Mass has done a better job with quarantine and limiting cases than other states, but there is still that risk. If I have a nagging injury I've gotten better about skipping a game or two to let it heal. But, then metal juggling of not playing in case something happens is different. If it was just managing a super bad flu for a few weeks, I'd be down. But, the danger of long term lung scarring is scary AF. Thankfully the fine folks in big government have taken the decision out of my hands.

With my health issues I feel the same way.  Hockey is listed as High Risk in NY as well.

Dave Miller, I agree with your stepping back given all the personal circumstances. I did elder care for 5 years for the in-laws. Serious stuff that has emergencies pop up when you least expect them.

Over the last year or so, given my age, my game has slipped more than a bit ! The older I get, the faster I was. That said, if I was in my prime I know I would be jonesing to play. Now it's just not the first priority. Never thought I would feel this way, just my current perspective. As you read so many times about the real pros retired, it's the locker room fun I miss the most right now. I would go to the rink just for that fun in the parking lot now.

Stay safe boys and keep sharing what is happening in your corner of the hockey world.

Yeah, hard to fathom the risk but after losing over 21 lbs I'm dying to serif I'm any faster now!!!!  Oh well.

Just did a deep dive into NY's planning documents and I don't see hockey here coming anytime soon anyway.

Here is the full document:  https://www.governor.ny.gov/sites/governor.ny.gov/files/atoms/files/SportsAndRecreationMasterGuidance.pdf

Hockey is a "level 3 high risk sport."  Effective July 6, 2020 in regions that have reached or surpassed Phase 3 of the State’s reopening and in accordance with this guidance, participants in lower and moderate risk sports and recreation activities may partake in all types of play, except competitive tournaments requiring travel. Participants in higher risk sports and recreation activities may only partake in individual or distanced group training and organized no/low-contact group training.

  7. I have such mixed feelings but the truth is I know it is not safe... but until there is a vaccine.  The question is how much of a risk am I willing to take.  There will be a variety of factors we should all consider.  What is the transmission rate where you live (I am in Nassau County, LI), what precautions are they taking at the rinks, will there be protective face gear like the Bauer shield?  From everything I have read an indoor sport with close contact, air conditioning and heavy breathing is the single riskiest thing out there.  I'd like to tell you I would wait... I am 53, have cardiovascular disease (3 stents), type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.  I also have my 86 year old mother in law living in my house.  But I'm not sure... I just dont know....

I use old threads here for a resource all of the time but I almost never say anything here because the vibe is super negative. Im excited about new gear. I love talking about it. But every thread here turns into inane off topic bickering. It's such a bummer. The old stuff is great though. I wasn't here for it but I see why you would miss how it used to be here.

Chirping is a hockey players default....  c'mon!  A little good natured debate never hurt anyone.

Bauer pulled full face shields from Bauerbiz for dealers. I contacted my rep and all FFS are on allocation. I placed a few orders for fall delivery. I don't know if I will get all that I asked for. Word was that big box wanted all the inventory. I can't confirm that but wouldn't be surprised.

CCM also pulled FFS from their B2B.

So if don't hesitate if you are thinking of going away from wire to a bubble.

Bought the Bauer Hybrid two weeks into pandemic...  prob won't do shit but I dont think the Concept 2 or 3 will either....

  10. I have to be honest, I find the topic you chose for this thread to be offensive - or at least overly provocative.  There is a man behind the site that works incredibly hard for this community and that should always, in ,my opinion, be remembered.  You could have just as easily asked the question, "why isn't more information about products being posted on MSH"  This would have been valid and far nicer.

As many have said the market has changed considerably.  The way manufacturers deal with online information outlets has changed as well.  I also think the way people consume news and information has changed and many prefer to listen to a video rather than write and discuss.  I could get into what that says about us as people (not a good thing) but I will pass on it.  Low hanging fruit as it were....

The good thing is we can do things to help....   post good topics.  Share your experiences and reviews.  Tell your friends about the site and, when the pandemic is over, come to events.

In the end this site is what WE make of it.

I'm guessing this thing isn't going to be as elaborate as people are making it out to be.  My shooting-in-the-dark guess is that it's going to be a new type of fishbowl cage that has side ventilation ports, or a much larger, full face, contoured visor.  If you re-read the Dreger text, it just says "help protect", which insinuates that it reduces risk, not eliminating it...

And I agree with stick9.  If these are optional, most will not wear it.

That's what I'm thinking... and I'd be ok with that as long as overall infection rates are low.
