    Howdy,

So, first go with a long sleeve t-shirt helped for sure.  I was able to ref the game without gloves and without feeling like my hands were going to fall off.

One question on doing this 'for real'... I'm registered as a player for USA Hockey.  Do I need to register independently as a ref as well?  I'd like to access the online course materials now, vs. waiting until the next season stuff opens up, but I don't want to waste $45 for 3 months or whatever.

Yes, my daughter started reffing this season in addition to playing and you have to register separately as an official.

Also it's $70 or $75 for refs, but your clinic will be free, unless that changes this coming year.

  2. I've currently got these skates to sharpen:

    Easton S17 Youth 10

Bauer Supreme Accel SMU with light speed edge holder Junior 1.5

    Bauer Reactor 5000 youth 13.5

I may be done with youth skates by next fall as feet in the household grow, but I think having to deal with goal skates makes the tall holder necessary?

  3. I pulled the trigger on some mx8s. It was almost impossible to get my feet in them prebake, but I milled about with them on for 10 - 15 minutes and didn't feel any pain.

They felt unique in a good way and much more comfortable than the jetspeeds I also tried on.

I have only had them out for a public skate but no pain after an hour on the ice, and no sloppy feeling like the Tacks 6052s I was in. So far so good.

  4. Anybody with a semi wide forefoot and low arch care to comment on the comfort of these?

I'm considering a pair but I'm worried about volume and pain in the balls of my feet.

Vapors are way too narrow, supremes were better but still had some pain, I'm in Tacks now and have no pain but can't get my heel to stay locked in.

  5. I looked all over the store for my curve in the new stick (didn't say the brand or model) and finally found it. Snapped it up quick, got it home and had it all taped up before I realized it was the wrong hand."

Hey come on, I've gone into the LHS grabbed a blade that was the brand and the curve I wanted, paid, started driving home, and had to go back because it was a lefty.

Those people at games do drive me nuts, spewing out crap that isn't right to their friends. It was refreshing yesterday at the Avs game someone behind us was actually knowledgeable and was telling his friend half way near decent info about the game.
