Not disagreeing with any of the above, but...

It’s easier to go to a P92 imo. The P28 toe is an absolute beast and you really can’t play with the puck on the heel/shoot off the heel because it’s completely straight and closed relative to the P92 and P91.

Just my personal experience. After giving the P92 some time after using the P91 and P106 forever I’ve really come around to liking it - and can appreciate why it’s the most popular curve on the planet. It does everything well.

I decided to try the p28 because of the simliarties with the p91. Just by looking at a p92 it looks closer to the p91, IMO. I have CX e3 I could try too

P28 is a modified P91, so yes, saucer passes are quite easy with one caveat: because the toe got shaved to make the pocket feel tighter on pick and fling wrist shots, you have to release before you reach that last 3rd of the blade. A lot of people naturally want to release the puck around that spot, where the "dual-lie" toe rocker starts which causes the puck to flutter. Otherwise, it's the same blade face and a similar heel curve on the P28. It just warps a bit into a mid curve until the toe curve starts due to the gravitational warping created by adding a toe curve to a P91.

this is great info thank you very much. How long do you think i should test for before I can make up my mind?

  3. hey guys,

Anyone got custom sticks or shafts from this company, its alot cheaper than Base even with the Canadian dollar.  I was looking to get some shafts and blades customized, 129 US for a tapered blade and shaft, seems pretty good. I cant find p91 right handed blades anywhere and they offer it. I have been using pro stock 2017 1x's for several years for reference. Anybody used the sticks or shafts, have feedback on performance or feel. Or perhaps on the company in general. Thanks guys!

The nuts in that holder that attach the steel are notorious for coming loose. Add some blue locktite and you should be fine.

I’d poke around and see if you can find a replacement set, just in case you do lose one. I had two different skates with that holder, and even re-tightening before the game they still got loose, until I put on the locktite.

Thanks man,ill take care of that. Had to do the same thing to my Makos. I had no clue, thanks!

Picked up some CCM Jetspeed FT1 elbow pads from Sportium online for 90 CDN (67 USD).  Sportium is a sporting goods store based out of Quebec that is closing due to covid so they had clearance on some items.  They have a pair of FT1 gloves for 131 CDN (99 USD), but I held off.

Also picked up a pair of Easton Synergy GX shin guards from sidelineswap for 25 USD.  The seller only used it for a single practice so they are like new.

There are some good deals on that site on Bauer 2s protective. But it says that the inventory isnt listed online? What do you do call them?

I'd say get one or two good-quality shafts in your preferred flex, then stockpile Drury blades. That's usually a winning formula for people who like rarer patterns. That way, you pay less "per Drury," and an 85 flex shaft + a Drury blade is much easier to find than an 85-flex RH Drury one-piece stick. BASE makes Drury (BH23) blades in several different lies, and you can pick your blade stiffness and coating. Otherwise, there are some other manufacturers who still make replacement blades, or you can find old ones or pro stock online.

Incidentally, I just tried BASE's Lie 4 Drury blade yesterday, and that was an interesting experience. Longest stick I've ever used, but I still had plenty of blade on the ice.

I looked into Base, the shipping rates killed the deal.

    Here's my dilemma,

My brother has been skating on a pair of easton S15's since they were new. They are literally the only skates he has ever owned that have not hurt his feet. The adhesive that connects the softer materials to the carbon is starting to fail. This isn't exactly surprising, and is probably closer to impressive, considering the adhesive issues that easton had with composite skates back around then. (Were any Synergy 1200's not warrantied?) Anyway given the vast number of shoe glue and other adhesives on the market does anyone have any experience with one that worked for this skate? I'll be repairing them one way or another but was just hoping for some advice.

    Thanks

What size does he wear I have a couple pairs.

  8. Hi Guys I am my last pair of makos and I get money through work for health an and wellness, I bough 4 1xs last year. I came across a pair of Bauer2.9 vapours with the black carbon steel by Bauer for 400 Canadian. Is this a good deal? I am a big guy weigh 250. Have normal feet. Any feedback would be helpful.
