The "Holy Crap, Did You See That Goal?" Thread

Nothing new...but still cool when someone does this:

and it does it the hard way; none of this slid your blade under the puck nonsense like Granlund.

this was nice, too:

I haven't been impressed with the lacrosse goal since Mike Legg and the IHL guy he trained with did it on the same day way back when.

Yeah, i hear ya. More impressed with the nerve of people do it compared to the execution of it these days. One of my teammates did it once in a meaningful game, next time we were down in his end, the goalie charged the corner (thinking it was the same kid, when it wasn't), and laid out the wrong kid.

I'm not even impressed with the nerve. Once it happened the first time everyone and their brother was trying it. The same thing happened with Datsyuk's backhand toe drag. Great when we first saw it but now everyone copied it with their own version.

Bill Armstrong from the Vipers.

Nice article on the play here:

That Michigan team had some serious talent that year. http://hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/leagues/seasons/teams/0005851996.html

The funny thing about that day was that I had seen Armstrong do it on the Sportschannel IHL game of the week that afternoon. I was out at a bar with a buddy that night and I hadn't seen Legg's goal yet. People were talking about the guy who picked up the puck on his stick and scored from behind the net and I was saying to them that it wasn't a college kid but some guy in the minors. They all looked at me like I had two heads.

I'm surprised not to see Ribeiro's OT goal from Feb 16 already posted. I just saw it on a highlight package recently and while the goal itself was just a great slapshot, the move to get himself in position to take the shot was something else. You can see the move at 1:40 of this video at full speed from an OK angle and then in slow motion from a better angle at a little after 1:50: http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2012/02/16/flames_stars_recap/?source=video
