MThockeydad 469 Report post Posted February 24, 2014 I saw some awesome sportsmanship Saturday night at the Montana Girls State hockey tourney. Watching the end of the U19 semifinal game between Miles City and Bozeman, Bozeman won 10-2. After the teams shook hands the Miles City goalie was in the dumps as she skated back to the net to retrieve her water bottle. Four of the Bozeman forwards skated back, hugged her, and escorted her off the ice. Glasgow beat our U14 girls 10-0; after the teams shook hands the Glasgow girls made a double line on either side of the door and congratulated our girls for playing well (which they did) as they skated off the ice. Some people complain about "kids today". We tell our daughters that somebody is always watching. It's true, but people also notice the good things. kovalchuk71 212 Report post Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) After talking to my therapist and really doing some soul searching (I really hate this term, but whatever), I have finally decided that what I want to do with my life is help others. Nothing truly makes me feel more accomplished than making someones day better, or even just giving them someone to lay their problems on/small talk with. I plan on graduating in May, and then plan to go to community college finish up my pre-requisite classes so I can apply to med school in a year. I have never felt so right about something before. Treat the kid just like every other player and hopefully parent will see that the kid is still getting great coaching in the absence of parent's badgering. bunnyman666 445 Report post Posted February 27, 2014 For the princely sum of $7.00 (cost of the blade), I brewed my own curve. I doubt I made anything new, but it's new to me. I used to brew my own curves 100 years ago, lol. Who knows if it works or not, but it was a cheap experiment. I took an Iginla curve, opened up the toe, curved the heel, and made a generally twisty curve. It could fail miserably, or I could end up doing this to every single Iginla curve I own. I am hoping for puck clearing ability, some good saucer passing, and a lofty shot. I hope two piece sticks with wood blades never go away... 1 Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

EBondo 232 Report post Posted February 27, 2014 I love, love, love my new job...sure it's only sales, but being around hockey equipment all day, five days a week, eight hours a day is amazing. Even more amazing when I have customers like I've had the past two days.One gentleman, probably in his mid 30's, getting back into the game now. Helped outfit him from head to toe, and was one of the nicest people I've ever helped (including my previous job). If everyone could be as nice as this man was, the world would be a happier place.Then today, a family just about outdid him when they came in to finish outfitting their son (stick, gloves, pants), and after they were done and leaving the store, the mother turns to me and asks how she can get a hold of HockeyGiant to say how much help I had been with them and how I made their experience as easy and pleasant as possible.Things like this just make me happy to come to work, and it's awesome to finally be in a place again where I can be happy on my drive to and from. 6 Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

MThockeydad 469 Report post Posted March 10, 2014 My youngest cousin and her husband came to MT from Texas over her spring break (she's a 4th grade teacher) for some skiing. Too bad the cold weather left last week. They're going to have some spring corn/slushy conditions. On the bright note, he grew up in Wisconsin and went to school at Michigan Tech. I borrowed gear for him and took him to drop-in last night. For not having skated much in the 3 years they've lived in Texas, he is GOOD!
