Wrist pain / injury

Recommended Posts

I woke up Monday morning (2 weeks ago) after playing on Sunday with a really sharp pain in my right wrist (low hand on the stick). Never had that kind of pain before and it continues to come and go; although getting better,  it still hurts to take a shot. I also have a sore spot on top just behind my wrist bone. Wondering if anyone has experienced a similar injury and if there is anything you have done to help alleviate the pain, i.e. wrapping or tapping the wrist before the game or practice, etc. Thanks.

I have a similar issue but further up my arm. Mine is considered Forearm Splints(Also known as Forearm Tendonitis). Playing 1 game usually doesn't effect me but if I play a weekend tournament, my right arm(lower hand) will kill on Monday morning. Nothing but rest makes it feel better.

I've had wrist problems with my top hand. If I'm not careful, I can aggravate my carpal tunnel. Last January, I over did it while working on my shot, and I think I aggravated some tendons, and the shock of pounding my stick into the ice gave me a lingering ache in  my wrist. It all lingered for months. Shooting nonstop for two hours was not a good idea.

Any way since then I've learned take a break every ten minutes or so when shooting, and to do stretches afterwards to keep the muscles from tightening up. So far so good.

Think I might have picked up this recently as well. In the last week, I've had 2 games, 1 drop in and 1 training session. I normally spend some time working on my shots, and seems like thats started to take its toll.

I have mine in my right wrist, and also my left elbow. (am a RH shot). I iced it last night after the game, and this morning its a numbing feeling.

I recently started using KT tape on my wrist when I play, works pretty well. There is also a wrist strap designed for baseball that I thought about trying LINK. Other braces worn off the ice will help with the pain and numbness.

My right wrist (top hand) hurts like none other after a shot or 2. I was able to gut out a few shifts at a pick up several months ago. It was my only game since it hurt. It's been this way for almost a year and the doctors say nothing is wrong. I think it's time for a new doctor.

What's your stick length? the longer the stick, the less ergonimically correct your top hand will be forced into position, unless you are like Mats Zucarello and can play with your hands way out in front of you while using a huge stick (which I am nothing at all like)

Hate to bring it to you, but It is probably only gonna get worst as you age and your wrist take a beating, something that can help for cheap is using wrist wraps. You can get something decent for under 20$ on ebay, like Harbinger.

Yeah, that sounds like more than just tendonitis this time!  Its been several months since @SuperCalo2000 made his post so I wonder how he is feeling now?  I would see a hand specialist and get an MRI.  As far as @icewalker_bg noting that it would only get worse with age while this is generally true (I am getting up there!!!) with hard work I do keep recovering from all my injuries and right now feel as good as ever.  Gym, trainer, exercise and diet and can do wonders to turn back the clock a wee bit!!!!
