Alternative to current shit Bauer steel.

This has been bugging me for a while. Does anyone make non-shit Bauer replacement steel? I just replaced some shit steel for my wife’s teammate with (circa 2007-ish) ls2 steel and the difference, even just sharpening, was noticeable immediately. It was a reminder that Bauer steel wasn’t always shit even if I’ve grown accustomed to what I’ve been dealing with the last several years.
Compared to 10 years ago I don’t sharpen or repair skates that much, but I do it enough to notice the difference between the quality in C+, old ls2/3, the step Bauer/ccm options, and the stuff Bauer has put out for the last 5 (10?) years.

Since CCM bought Step that’s out, but is there another supplier that just makes good steel for Bauer skates? Not looking for fancy DLC or anything, just non-shit steel.

JRZ took over from Step Steel for non-CCM. Supposedly they are made in the same factory as Step Steel.

I was told that after Step was bought by CCM the engineer/owner started JRZ but I have no way of confirming that. My son uses blade tech steel and I think it is a suitable alternative to the STEP brand
