  1. Skates - Reebok 9K

Stick - Bauer Vapor APX (Pro Stock Garrison) x2

    Gloves - Easton EQ50 Pro

    Helmet - CCM V10 + Oakley Visor

    Pants - Bauer TotalOne

    Shoulder Pads - Sherwood 5030

    Elbow Pads - CCM V10

Shin Pads - Reebok 7K Fitlite (Jofa model)

Looking to upgrade a few things within the next few months. Skates, Shoulder Pads, Elbow Pads. If I keep dropping weight, I'll be slipping into a pair of Graf pants that I recently picked up but they dont fit.

  2. Yep we're the Voyagers. Not from Toronto though, from Western PA. I was the D man playing in white Pens socks.

    Glasses?

mug: whats wrong with the solid white?? i rock solids as much as i can... and what the HELL is up with the faceoff formation in pic 3? are you guys running set plays in beer league or just trying to look like you know what you're doing?

That wasn't a faceoff. Notice, I'm on the inside of the defender, if the faceoff was in that zone, I'd have been on the wrong side LOL

  3. I came out one night on a Friday a while back and I think we were both dark team. Haven't been back to that particular open hockey session because of all the kids who don't like to pass. Was out at open hockey a few Friday afternoons ago as well, but I have a hard time finding a slot on the friday list. I usually am out on the Monday open hockey sessions and I play in the Monday/Tuesday night league.

Also, judging by your jerseys you're on the team that smoked us a couple weeks ago. We have a team full of forwards that don't believe in back checking or playing their positions in general.

Well, we got these jerseys last week so I'm guessing you guys are the Voyagers. You the guy from Toronto?

and yeah, Friday nights are pretty much terrible. We have a very good group of guys that play on Saturday nights in Lake Worth, the time fluctuates between 8:40, 9:20 and 10:30pm but always a good skate. You're welcome to come along, it's invite only so just PM me and we can exchange #'s.

  4. The TotalONE pant is EXACTLY the same pant as the ONE95, but with a yellow lining.

And really, must you quote his pictures?

Waiiiit...Nicklo...didn't we ban you years ago? I'm pretty sure it was you...

That was my twin brother. :/ I dont even remember what I did.

How is the one100? I hear it's similar to the one95.... Interested in grabbing one.

I think the TotalOne is closer to the the One95 stick but I do like the One100. Pretty durable stick and I'm getting some nice shots off with it. Love the spiral grip thing on the corners.

  5. I play in a league in northern ontario, there are some good teams without a doubt, just being a bummer because we're on a bit of a skid right now.. the jerseys are ugly though. haha

Be happy you have the talent to even play hockey in the first place. This is the greatest sport on the planet. Every time I touch the ice, I wish I had started when I was young — I'd play any team. Crappy or not.

  6. With "super soft ice" you may as well be skating in mud... or running in deep dry sand with a 100 pound backpack..... There is a reason we switch to shallower "hollows" when going to really soft ice.... Go shallower and find a happy medium, or maybe get a couple sets of runners and have one set for each rink....The point is, experiment and find out what works for you. Coming from inline you probably feel like you are attached to rails on the ice with what you are skating on now.

As to the "training wheel hollow"...... to each his own.... some folks will never be comfortable on shallow hollows regardless of their skating ability. You have to experiment and find out what works for you.

That's what I figured. The rink I play at on Tuesdays is probably the worst ice possible (it was so humid last night that my visor would fog up the moment I got back to the bench.) — however, since that is where I play my league games I think I might cater to that rink. I may also consider the switching steel based on what rink I play at

  7. To be honest, someone at 314 lb skating on the DEEPEST FBV...and I ask this in the most non-insulting way...you aren't a good skater, are you? Because it sounds like you are on a training wheels hollow (going with deep hollow for stability)

Remember, if you weigh a lot, you don't need that much of a hollow. Make the shift to a shallower hollow...every time you get your skates sharpened. Once you feel like you can't make a turn without blowing out, scale back to the previous hollow. But work on your skating and get off that 100/75!

No offense taken whatsoever. Indeed, I'm not a good skater, although I know I've improved drastically, I've only got about 6 months of on-ice experience — prior to that I had only played inline. I was told that I would really like the 100/75 by one of the LHS employees so I gave it a shot. I'm going to drop down a level tomorrow night. Skating at Incredible on "The Den" so it's definitely good ice to test it out on right? Really appreciate the honest, informed reply.

Would the 100/75 effect my overall froward stride? I feel like it's making my technique sloppy and incomplete, also feel like I'm not gliding really well.

  8. I've been skating on 100/75 FBV for the past two months or so. I feel like it might be too much bite for me. I play at 3 different rinks a week — one rink has super soft ice. Another is pretty hard (it's the sheet that the Florida Panthers practice on) and the other rink is honestly an "in-between". I feel that on the softer sheet of ice, I'm skating through mud. Lots of drag and my strides really dont feel "complete". My technique on the harder sheets of ice feels much better. I hope that makes sense. Maybe it's my actual technique? Or is 100/75 too much bite? Will dropping down a hollow help this issue or is it just my technique?

BTW, I'm skating on RBK 9k's and I weigh 314lbs, 6'1". (Yeah I'm a fatso but working on it)
