  1. Just wanted to say how impressed I am with these blades after about 6 months. I've been on the ice 1-2 times a week in those 6 months and have only felt the need to get them sharpened once (after the original sharpen).

3 months later.. decided to get em sharpened although I don't really think they needed to be. So crazy how well these things hold an edge.

  2. 90/75 had too much bite compared to 7/16? Something is not right with that, unless the ice was a lot softer. You may like the grip of the x/50 a little more. Something like the 100/50 maybe.

It might not actually be 7/16th that I normally get it done at. I just drop the skates off and pick them up. I'll have to ask next time for confirmation. I was told that 7/16th is standard so I assumed that my regular sharpen is a 7/16th.

  3. Finally got out to try my Step. Thought it would take a while but it just felt right the moment I stepped onto the ice. The bite was really nice and the glide was nice. Only thing that I didn't like was the size of the back of the blade affected my backwards skating, which wasn't strong to begin with. Going to keep on trying em out, and maybe get em profiled to help with the backwards skating if I can't adjust.

  4. The outside polished area is very hard and generally does not need honing. You will never notice any difference, honed or unhoned. A honing stone will scratch them. On brand new ones someone buys from us we do not hone, seems some do not like getting new steel with any scratches. After you play on them a while they will get naturally hacked up by skates blades, at that point, hone away.

    Thank you

  5. Okay so I ordered some Step V-Steel. Anything I need to let my sharpener know before he sharpens them assuming he doesn't already know how to sharpen them? How do I keep the mirror finish? Honing the sides or something? If I chose to not have that done to keep the mirrored finish, how would that affect the sharpen?

  6. i was more trying to highlight the fact that on one hand, everyone whinges that when they go to pro team sales, there is nothing left because the first few people came and bought all that they could carry regardless of if for private use etc.

Then on the other hand we celebrate people who have 4 girdles which cant possibly be for personal use.

We whine when the people who do that are not apart of our communities :). If they are apart of it, good job to them.

    :)
