I do live in Hong Kong and I also have problems with the heel lifting. I'm having trouble finding ratchet clamps that grip the boot correctly, Can you tell me where this store is in Hong Kong?  I'm also ordering the Stable 26 socks to see if that will fix this problem.

I think I got it at Ironman hardware store in Tai Kok Tsui. 21 Beech St. That was some years ago though.

What do you mean by this? Baking and using duct tape? How would this work for someone with bony heels, there is nothing to push in?

I am guessing he is referring to the bandaging (with duct tape instead) technique shown on the vh YouTube channel where you wrap from the heel and up around the ankle to get a tighter fit around that area. I can imagine this helps ankle fit but not sure it is enough in the heel itself. Good idea to try this first though as clamping is a bit more finicky to get right.

Where did you find the clamp? I bought one but it doesn't sit flat, just pinches and then falls off. Can you do this without baking? Like hit it with a heat gun?

    Thanks again

I got the clamp at some local hardware store (I live in Hong Kong so I can't give you a store name useful to you). I just used my wife's hair dryer as it is a pretty powerful one, you can use a h leat gun if you can get ahold of one. The clamp does try to slip off so I just put pressure on the back of it to stop it from slipping backwards. You gotta hold it there for a good 15mins though to make sure it cools down and hardens with the clamp squeezed in.

Anyone have trouble with heel lock on any of their pairs? I didn't notice it too much (I got them in August and was psyched I didn't have any more pain) but I'm now seeing that I have to tie my skate much tighter than my left, and my heel is still slipping a bit.

I baked them for the second time and tried to use a ratchet clamp but it wouldn't hold.

Any recommendations? My right ankle is substantially smaller than my left, and I don't really get a good heel lock even in shoes, now that I think about it.  I use wax laces too. Maybe find a really small ratchet clamp? Mine was a 6 inch with paddles bigger than my thumbs, but didn't have rotating heads. I'm currently sitting on the issue and while I love the pain free bit, this is bothering me as of late.

I had heel problems. I used a smaller clamp to squeeze in the Achilles just above the heel which created little heel locking bumps to hold my heels down.

You could also try Stable 26 socks if necessary.

Is there a maximum you would heat mold portions (or all of) this skate? I've been dealing with some lateral shifting and new orthopedic insoles and didn't want to heat it too many times. So far I've done the initial bake, secondary bake, and two heel lock specific heatings (back portion).

Best to email Scott. I previously asked him if there is a limit to the number of times you can reheat and he said there is none. But I hadn't reheated as many times as you.

  6. Anyone have some updates on their VH's? Looking at getting a pair, and curious to see if any improvements have been made to the manufacturing process since the skates debut.

I can only tell you that if you have seen different images of the skate of different designs, the current design is the one with the eye shaped "window" on the outside without the plastic wear guard (the 2 silver strips) behind the toe box.

Also as far as colour customisation goes, they are not offering the same areas as before. Now you can customise the previously mentioned window on the outside and the diamond shaped area at the back of the skate. The reason given for this was durability issues. If you. Google search for images you can see examples of this.

I got a pair recently and they are going great. I didn't care for the insoles though and put some Superfeet in them. I would love to get true custom insoles because of my really high arches but there is no where here that I can get them. I have to say that it is a good idea to bake them at a shop with really attentive staff that know what they are doing. The skates have very thin padding as they are supposed to fit the exact shape of your feet so you want to get the staff to really press the boot in all around your feet to get rid of any excess space. I had to do a bunch of adjustments at home with a hair dryer and a a clamp because the staff at the lhs were too busy to give it the attention needed.
