Cool maybe I will try a new toungue
-
I flared mine out a bit. Too much and u lose some lock so it is a balancing act. Ultimatley the longer you have them the better they get until they start breaking down.
-
Only thing I dont love about Trues is the ankle wrap, hard to roll ankles in and out unless u skip eyelets but u get good flexion front to back if you lace all the way up. I would argue side to side freedom is more important than shin angle as you can always press into the tounge for shin angle no matter how tight u go. Eventually you will find the right combo. My left skate is a little loose use an extra red footbed there to get the same feeling as the right one. I have really flexible feet but havent tried other footbeds.
-
Easy. Fold the tounge over, slide the laces into the eyelets behind the tounge then leave enough slack to put the tounge back.
-
I skip the second from the top and do the top. Always skipped top eyelet in previous skates. Its not tightness so much as finding the ideal combo to let you get flexion while leveraging the stiffness of the boot. Also messed with pushing the tounge all the way in the toe box. I like the edge of the tounge to land right before the toe knuckle. Pushing it all the way to the front felt more snug for sure but it inhibited an agressive toe snap, for me at least. I like snug but I dont need the skates super tight, better for me to splay my foot to evenly distribute weight over the entire blade but snug enough to avoid slippage.

If you really want step they are only available for the new ccm holders as of 2020. You can ask the shop to mount those instead. I got the tuuk holders for mine w the last available step compatable with the tuuk holders so you can go that route if you can find bauer compatable step or get the ls steel.

I see this line of reasoning from bauer. The instep height and depth can be corrected for with different tounge and footbed options, it is really hard to alter the structure of the length or width of the boot. I have almost the opposite foot as you, wide forefoot, narrow heel, short heel pocket, and low instep, I am curious what bauer would scan me for knowing you got a fit 1 suggestion.
-
Looks like Bauer scan is selecting the closest match based on what is available. Also comes down to preference. When I got my Trues they spent a while asking me how I want my pair to fit. What previous skates I had, what I liked or disliked, etc. They can also give u different holders, whatever steel u want. If you dont want to go all out with True I would guess CCM custom is probably closer to Trues process than Bauer but I would defer to the pros on this thread to comment however it has been my experience that the person fitting you and sending your scan in has more influence on the outcome than the brand or manufactuer. A good LHS or fitter can make alterations on off the shelf wheels than a box stores virtual measuring stick for customs.

Get Trues if you haven't already, find a retailer whom you trust. For what it is worth I had to re bake my trues after the lockdown. I emailed them and they suggested it. Fairly common. Easy fix.

How to help a talented player focus in games?
JD17 replied to VegasHockey's topic in General Hockey Discussions
Seems like game conditions are eliciting a fight / flight response. When adrenaline gets too high from anxiety your flexor muscles tense too much and you choke. Try getting him into a relaxed state for games. You want him in the optimal performance zone. Just enough neural drive but not too much. Seems like he is there during practice so you must have him recreate that perception to get into the same neural state during games. Theach him box breathing, use relaxation excercises for warm up like static stretching instead of dynamic, etc. Over focusing on game day may be creating more anxiety. Just do the same routine as on practice day. Switching lines wouldn't be bad if you can sell it to him as balancing out the lines, make it about the teammates. Also make sure the others give him as many tire pumps as possible. Some guys thrive on ribbing from teammates, others thrive on tire pumps. I have more ideas and resources for you if you want, DM me if you want to chat. -
Howies cloth or Elite would be the closest. I actually like the Howies better, they r made by tex style.
