Custom Skates / Ice to Inline Conversion
Ray replied to cougarscaptain87's topic in Roller Hockey Equipment
I just installed my 3mm CNC machines aluminum lifts and what a difference. The feeling is very neutral right now. I could probably go a little more since the forward pitch on my RBK ice skates is still WAY more than how my Grafs sit on on the vangaurds, but I will try a few games as is.- 2846 replies

How much lift did you add? I am having a buddy machine some 3mm lifts for my grafs with vangauards. I put them next to my Tour Code 1's and the front is higher and the back is lower on the vangauards. I already feel back on my heels with the Tours. I went with 3mm as a guess since I have screws that are about 3mm too long for the t nuts. I have a feeling 3mm will feel like a big difference. If I have to go more I will.- 2846 replies

Looking forward to seeing these as mine will be the polar opposite of yours (I'm about to mount my White Accel Elites on either a white MG Vanguard or a white sprung) Dude, what size skate are you? Cause if you use a medium chassis some dude is selling a white magnesium vanguard on ebay complete with the wheels and bearings (off of a boss black skate) never used! I would have bought it but i already ordered my aluminum one. Search "mission chassis" on ebay and it should come up. Could save you a ton of money on this conversion if you can use a medium chassis. That sucks, I just ordered an aluminum myself.- 2846 replies

I think you have me confused...I just ordered the A7 frames, not the rockers. I didn't send you skates to mount them on either. But they do look pretty sweet.- 2846 replies

I like the concept, I just don't like the execution. Having 3 wheel sizes is cumbersome when it comes to rotating and buying wheels. I actually put a 76mm wheel up front on my hummr's and have a tri di like effect in that way. But in my case, I have 76 80 80 80 so I have more contact patch (what I prefer). To each his own. Let's see if I fall in love with the sprungs when my A7's show up. A8's were too big for me.- 2846 replies

1. Those RBK's look awesome 2. Anyone want to chime in on which size Tee Nut and screw to use to mount a frame?- 2846 replies

If the front wheel is too far forward, then the skates feel like speed skates with no maneuverability. I came across this by mounting A8 sprungs on my size 10 grafs. I am waiting on some A7's now. Take a look at off the shelf setups and compare how much the front wheel extends past the toe cap to your current setup.- 2846 replies

same thing...those just have the spikes on them. Take the spikes off and they are the ones I used to put a cage on my helmet.- 2846 replies

what are t-nuts? will they fit in regular rivet-sized holes? Those are the kind of nuts used to put a cage on a helmet.- 2846 replies

looks great. What size boot and frame do you have there? Looks like an A6. Those middle 2 wheels look very close together.- 2846 replies

here are some $30 used size 10 graf 707 with sprung A8. The wheels are terrible, but they are what I had lying around. I'll grab some rink rats this week hopefully. I'm still trying to get used to the large contact patch of the A8 compared to my hummr's.- 2846 replies

Thats true, but the chassis is still spaced for 80mm wheels so the frame length is longer and a little bit of turning agility will be sacrificed. If someone is running 76mm wheels exclusively, it would be better to go with a frame built around that setup like the final force/factor frames or similar chassis. You get your 2mm closer to the ground and you get a shorter wheelbase and better turning. yeah I'm not saying I would do it, I'm just saying that 2mm even though it seems small would be a noticeable difference. I run a 76mm wheel in front on my hummr's and I went back to all 80's and hated it. So every little change counts. I'm going to try some sprungs with all 80's soon enough.- 2846 replies

One thing you do gain with all 76mm wheels on a hummr is that you're lower to the ground by 2mm.- 2846 replies

A friend of mine had his hummr's put on his synergys and instead of taking away material in the outsole they put some small copper washers between the front of the chassis and the outsole.- 2846 replies
