  1. I hope you washed those before you wore 'em

Pro's equipment is meticulously maintained and cleaned. I'd be willing to bet you could almost eat off of those... well, before ISTOUT wore them anyway!

Yeah, Renberg almost lost his arm to infection a few years back thanks to his clean equipment.

Yes, and didn't that spark things into motion to keep the gear much cleaner because of that?

Better? Yes. Clean enough to eat off? Not even close.

Obviously the comment about eating off of them was a bit of an exaggeration. I'll keep it in the back of my mind not to stretch so much next time.

  3. Great start to my roller hockey season. 2 games so far, 6 goals and 4 assists, identical 3/2 games. We're 2-1 as a team..

Apparently I had one of the greatest goals the rink has ever seen tonight. The puck is rolling towards the net, so I get a stick on it before the other team can get it and take it back up the rink. I bat it skating backwards with one hand on the stick, through my legs, through the goalie's five-hole. I was just as shocked as everyone in the rink was.

And later on I set up a goal as I was falling down, perfect shot-pass to a teammate's stick.

Edit - Now that I get home, I'm told I had another goal and possibly another assist on the scoresheet, so maybe 12 points in 2 games. Not too shabby.

    .

In roller hockey,9 games played I have 26 goals and 19 assists. Also today is my second snow day in a row

I wonder if Gretz or Mario would have posted like this had the web been around for them.

Doubtful. They would have been in awe of posts like these and would be shamed their #'s weren't up to snuff.

  4. Curtis Granderson is a Yankee, that's sweet.

Yeah, but not quite sure how I feel about giving up Austin Jackson though.

Jackson's ceiling is probably Granderson with less power, so might as well pick up Granderson.

Yeah, I had heard that he's got less power, but makes up for it in average. Anyways, we'll see down the road how it pans out.

  5. I try. In rooms with lockers and such instead of benches, or when it's rather crowded and other people's 'small' bags are preventing me from doing so, it's not always possible. But if somebody tells me that I can't use my bag, I'm not exactly going to pay much attention to them. If you have a problem with it, you can buy me a new bag that meets your size standards that still manages to dry and help disinfect my gear.

Why not use the Shock Doctor bag at home, and use a smaller, cheap bag just to transport the equipment to/from games?

  6. That's rough.

On a lighter note, tonight I'm coming for a line change, the guy tries to jump over the board and falls right on my brand new OPS. The stick snaps 6" from the top. That OPS had no warranty.

Is it just me or should the guy step up and at least offer to replace it?

If you choose to buy an OPS with no warranty, you really have no beef when it breaks. Buy a wood stick... it would probably perform better than the lowest level OPS anyway, at a fraction of the price.

  7. I'll add myself in here.

I was playing some puck at the local outdoor rink, and there were some young ones there as well, probably 9-10 years old. One of the kids, who showed some serious potential, was doing a Michigan, but stationary. I decided to give him a few pointers (how to do it while moving, the risks of doing it, etc), and told him if he could do one skating before I left, I'd give him one of my sticks I had with me. Low and behold, about fifteen minutes later, he's got my Easton "S17" (CNT actually)/Vapor XXXX blade combo. I think I made his life. He was so happy.

Good on you for helping a kid and giving him a stick, but next time help him with something actually useful, like seeing the rink, and how to make a great tape to tape lead pass.

  8. Sold a shaft and it was returned to me by USPS today broken in half with an apology note (not a personalized on, a pre-printed one in a plastic envelope they stuck to the shaft).

I sold it for $25, and have already refunded the seller, but is it worth filing a claim with USPS?

Is it too much hassle for just $25?

Follow up and make them pay. If not for the money, then at least for the principle of it all.
