Les Miserables

Anyone here read/seen Les Mis? We listened to the musical/read sections of it in my lit class recently. After expressing my disappointment with the ending, my teacher told me I could rewrite the ending in lieu of the final term paper. I have to write 10 pages, from the scene where Valjean carries Marius through the sewers. For those who have read it/seen it, what'd you think of the ending? Were you as disappointed as I am? What would you have liked to see happen? I think I have some pretty good ideas for my paper, but it'd be interesting to see what others think.

i saw the musical when i was like 8. i don't remember it though.
