Bauer XX skates vs XXX skates

I've got a pair of XX's, and they fit nicely, I've got narrow feet with a very small instep.

Are the XXX any different regarding comfort? My only gripe with the XX is that the tongue could do with being a bit more padded as I've managed to split the side of it at 2 different points on my left skate.

I live in the UK so returning skates is very expensive for me to. (It's much cheaper for me to buy from the US/Canada.)

I wear thick socks with my size 10 XX and I've gotta do them up tight, do you think I could get away with 9.5 and thin socks?

Check the skate reviews section of the site. It's very helpful. I believe one person adresses the comfort issue outright.
