flaming_june 2 Report post Posted August 5, 2005 most military analysts say they're trying to intimidate taiwan rather than it being the actual plans, seems stupid that a general would reveal his strategy to the world. it could be to threaten the people of taiwan so they'd vote for reunification rather than independence. they've done similar things like shooting rockets over taiwan and naval tests near and around taiwan. I think it was aimed at the US administration rather than Taiwan. Although this type of public rant is more likely staged to "remind" the US that China has nuclear capabiities. However this rant will more or less steer the US to a more anti China stance and lead them to start the missile defense program. Taiwan has been under a "united front" against the current DPP administration. The KMT needs the CCP to work against the DPP admin. Kinda perverse since the KMT has longed to take over the mainland and sworn the commies as enemies for life.Can read www.taipeitimes.com for a more independence view on Taiwan.or www.chinapost.com.tw for a more proChina view on Taiwan.
