Graf 705 ankle problem

Recommended Posts

I have a pair of 705's. In the last three weeks or so they have been killing me on one foot, right at the round bone, on the inside of the ankle. I have no bruise there from a shot or stick, and the pain only lingers throughout the day. It's localized, about the size of a dime or so. There is no swelling or rub makr either. I am wondering if this is an indication that the boot is breaking down a bit (they have seen better days) or if this is just a result of too much time in them.too much running and working out. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I would guess that the near term solution is some sort of pad in the area. But longer term it might be time for some new boots.

In general, you do not want something rubbing constantly against the bone. If you do it long enough, bone spurs can start to grow, and then you have real problems.

Is there a lot of padding in that area. One trick that I used once that worked was to get a big "C" clamp, and clamp the heck out of the rub area. Tighten it really well and leave it overnight. You will have a nice round indentation in the padding the next day, and maybe that is all you need.

I hear you can get the padding punched out.

Also, sometimes thicker socks for a week or two might let everything heal so the problem goes away.

Well, the spot is pretty close to the eyelet, and I wonder if the problem is simply that the tongue on the skate has just worn out to the point that it isn't covering the area as good as it has in the past. I may, however, look into getting it punched.
