Stick handling gates

In a number of photes of camps I've seen what look like little "gates", almost like big handles, scattered about the ice.

What do you think would be good dimensions for those if I want to make some for myself. I was thinking of taking a 2x4, cutting two "squares" from it and stickin those onto a length (2 feet? 1?) of 2x4.

I'm thinking that dribbling back and forth through it would be one drill (in front and to the side). Another would be to line them up end to end and dribbling in motion down the length.

Any other ideas?
