BoomBoomKaberle 0 Report post Posted October 26, 2005 I'm just learning how to skate now, and I can get around on the ice without falling and stuff. However, the way I start my stride and gain speed is definately not the right way (I can tell by looking at other skaters). I drag each leg forward and keep repeating that while I see others just "stepping forward" without their foot touching the ice to gain speed.I've looked for information online but there's nothing that explains the whole skating process in detail so I was wondering if someone could help with with that or link me to some videos or something online which demonstrates how to start the skating motion and then how to speed up.Thanks
Jason Harris 31 Report post Posted October 26, 2005 Check out Planet Hockey for vidoes. I purchased their video first, then attended one of their camps about a year later, and have subsequently become friends with the staff, since it turns out they're headquartered near me. What I like about the video compared to Robbie Glantz or Laura Stamm -- I have both of those -- is there is plenty of information on how to skate, but then there's another half hour on skills and drills for playing hockey.
