Hejduk Synthesis

Recommended Posts

I just bought a Milan Hejduk pro Synthesis including blade off ebay and I was wondering about two things.

1) Does Hejduk usually use wood or carbon blades?

2) The seller said that while the blade can be replaced of course, it schould only be used by a righty because the shaft was specifically made for a right handed shooter. Do they make Synthesis´s with that feature? I mean he said that he got the stick from Hejduks parents at the World Championships and his father had told him that ...... I mean I don´t care if that is true or if he made that story up because the price was an absolute steal but I was mainly wondering if any of you own or have held one of his shafts and if the story about the "specifically for rh shooters" thing is true.

its very possible its designed solely for right hand shooters because inno does that with there shafts making them left or right shots so easton may do this for pros

Thank you both for your quick responses.

I know Inno does that with retail Novius and also one of the earlier Bauer shafts and also the older Jofa shafts had that feature but I never heard that from Easton so I was wondering.

Do you seriously not know what a synthesis is?

i believe it has been said before that hejduk's synthesis' are just painted t-flexs. that's why they are not the normal synthesis length. the right/left shot only is a mistake. the seller was informed wrong or something.

do you still have the link ? it would be easier for other members to comment if they can see the stick/something.

Maybe Hejduk's dad told the guy that it only took tapered blades, and something got lost in translation (not sure how good Mr. Hejduk's English is).

the auction

Here are some pics. Translation: "I´m selling an original carbon hockey stick form NHL-Star Milan Hejduk of the Colorado Avalanche. It is a brand new Easton Synthesis stick from last year that was specifically made for him and was supposed to be used during the World Championships in Vienna. (where he in the end couldn´t play due to injury) The shaft ws made to his measurements and it weighs 300g and is 124 cm long." (That´s about 49") etc, etc. Than basically saying that his father told him it had been "hardened" for an rh shooter specifically.

Anyway... I guess I will just wait and see what I get.

great, you posted the link. Now everyone can see the stick that you purchased.

I personally think there was something lost in the German to English translation.

From the looks of the pictures, its an Easton T-Flex shaft painted like a "Synthesis" with a T-Flex blade. Well, that's my opinion anyways. It could be a real synthesis with a t-flex blade, but that wouldn't make much sense.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy your new stick.

its been said before in previous posts that hedjuk used the t-flex for a while, and easton just painted them over as synthesis' for marketing reasons. probably explains why there is a tflex blade in it

well, that's what we would assume by guessing, but you never know.

Just last week I went to a sports memoribilia show. They were selling Gretzky game issued Louisville Response Plus sticks (they are a limited batch) from the outdoor hockey game in Edmonton two years ago.

Ah, the stick looked so nice and sweet until I had it in my hands. Upon closer inspection, it was a blasted stupid wood stick painted like a Louisville Response Plus. $400 bucks for a Gretzky wood stick.......no thanks.

We will see. I wouldn´t even mind if it was a T-Flex. I liked my original blue/silver alu T-Flex back then so....you never know. I´ll update this topic next week to let you know what it turns out to be.

The stick arrived today. What I can say so far is that the blade is a composite T-Flex with a sandpaper like finish similar to the blades of the (I think) 2003 model Synergy if you know what I mean. It´s probably a lie between 6 and 5.5...hard to tell cause of the rocker. Not my type of curve I think...looked more promising in the pics. I can´t tell if it´s a Synthesis or a T-Flex but that story about it beeing for RH shooters seems correct. I think the one side is slightly convex while th other is slightly concave.

Ps: Blade will be up in the sell or trade section soon.

You can just flip the shaft upside down. eg ( M-> W ) Words facing down if you know what i mean.. so a lefty can use it. however Iam not sure if this would effect the performance.

The shape is more like this [)

I have now put an inno blade in it and compared to my XN10 + Inno blade it does not really feel heavier at all. It´s an inch shorter but therefor has a wooden plug which makes up for the 1" So I´d say it´s basically on par with the XN10 (265g) Maybe a bit more but definitly below 300g. The print says 300g, though. ...I don´t know what the T-Flex usually weighs but I also have a grip lite (which is 300g) and you can tell that the Hejduk shaft weighs less.

In terms of Easton retail blades I´d say it´s a mix between an Iggy and a Sakic. It´s got a little toe hook to but not as open as the Sakic.
