Ref Don Van Massenhoven

I'm sure a bunch of you saw the highlights of Van Massenhoven getting a deflected puck in the nose.

Something like seven hours of surgery and doc's orders to stay put for a while should see him back on the ice in a little while.

I had the privilege to have him ref an alumni game last season (he was a lock-out victim) and got to chat with him for a bit. He passed me more than once heading down the ice - he's a big guy with a huge stride!

Wishing him a speedy, full recovery. Get back on the ice soon.

Was at the game and it was pretty nasty. It is never good to see anyone take an NHL slapper, deflected or not, off the face. He's been around for a good while, hopefully he gets back in the game quick.
