Mission L-2 and M-2 Shaft radius different from M1

I held a L-2 and M-2 shaft a week ago and noticed the shape of the shaft is alot more square than the mission M-1. I like the round feel of the M-1. Has anyone else noticed this and as to why mission did this ?? Also are the new M-1's going to change their shaft shape now ??
