I think you're thinking of the wrong guy. In the gold medal game ovechkin never even really got knocked down if im remembering correctly. He's more solid then people give him credit for. He stood up Tootoo after he took a run from across the ice and jumped at his head like usual

It was Bergeron who nailed Ovechkin and Crosby took a good run at him a few minutes later.

That Phaneuf on Olesz hit cost him the Gold Medal game.
