I'm new to roller hockey, and I was wondering if there were any good guides that anyone had to maintaining your skates. I basically know nothing about this, so any information anyone has would really be appreciated

i clean my bearings about every 3-4weeks or so. And also make sure your wheels arent dirty or have huge chunks/cracks in them.

I don't even know how to clean my bearings, I guess I should've been clearer. I'm really looking for how-to guides for maintenance.

First you'd have to buy a skate tool(http://hockeygiant.com/truhoctrians.html) or use Epuck's guide to getting bearings out/into the wheels. Then just take the bearings and drop them into the bearing cleaner. Theres plenty of them on the market.

Then put your bearings back in your wheels, and put them back into a chassis, and you should be fine.

Hope this helps

After cleaning your bearings, let them completely dry out, and then re-lub them. Grease, oil or gel - your choice.

Also, you may need to rotate your wheels from time to time. On rougher surfaces you'll probably wear down the insides of your wheels, so you'll want to swap them around to try and balance out the wear and keep both sides of the wheel roughly even. Shouldn't be a problem on smooth indoor surfaces though.
