Difference between 8k & 7k elbow pad

I've been trying to decide between the RBK 8k and 7k elbow pads. From the looks of them the only difference is the extra inch of wrist protection offered on the 8k.

Do we really need an additional inch or two of forearm protection from an elbow pad (would you buy the 8k instead of the 7k)?

The RBK also says the 8k uses Fitlite Technology and doesn't make the same claim for the 7k. What exactly is Fitlite Technology and why isn't the 7k Fitlite?

The fitlite is probably that extra inch of padding that closes the seams between elbow pads and gloves. I'd just get the lesser.
