Does anyone know what the 'bits' are at the bottom of his shin guards that hang over his skates? I saw them on a pic of him during the Olympics and just saw them on another pic of him here while reading about the Wild - Oilers game on Yahoo! Sports...I just can't work out what they are!

my guess is some added protection so he doesnt get a shot off his injured foot. i dont know for sure though. correct me if im wrong.

I'm guessing you're right. I noticed a similar little extra padding on one of the Stars player's gloves at the game the other night. I wondered what the heck this strap was on his glove at first but it was pretty clear after he turned his glove over that it was just extra padding. Strange though - I have never had problems with my gloves not being padded enough.

I have had pucks hit me where Pronger has his padding though. Ouch. I can only imagine what it must be like to stop NHL slappers.
