Thanks alot... Also does anyone know where exactly the fuse point is ?? I would rather just cut at that point and then just ram or hammer out the additional junk left in the shaft.

Is the m-1 hand specific?

Could you take broken lefty m-1 and stick a righty blade in it?

It's not hand specific. The original M-1's had a problem with the fuse point, and some you were able to just pull the blade out. I have one and am waiting for the blade to break to try and make it into a shaft as well so I'm glad this thread came back. I can see a faint crack line around, where I think is the fuse point, just below the Aldila logo.
