Getting my legs back in 1 week

Recommended Posts

I have been out for 5 weeks now with a separated shoulder, I skated lightly last night and it felt good.

I have a tourney next weekend and my legs are way off, how can I get them back by next weekend ?

Any help would be great

Thanks

Setup a schedule with recovery in it but keep your legs moving. If you can take it, alternate between sprints and distance. If you can hit the ice every other day awesome, but you can also do it dryland.

Start every session with a good warm up of stretching etc. This is probably the most important part.

On ice sprint days there are a few different drills you can do. You can do the standard Miracle on Ice drill: Redline, blue line, redline etc. Russian circles are also good to get your turns back.

On distance days, this is almost better doing it dryland. Riding a bike and roller blading at a slow speed. This will help build your endurance.

Most of all, don't overdo it. If you need to take extra days off, do it. Most importantly, the day or even two before take off so you can rest etc. Tournaments push you pretty hard.
