Need info or opinions on older Mission shafts

Recommended Posts

I found a place that has some older Mission shafts and sticks and I would appreciate some information and opinions about weights, curves, length, etc., if anyone has any. The following are the products and prices I am talking about.

If anyone has other comments about older Mission shafts (excluding the M-1, L-2) please leave those as well.

I know that there might be some other comments about this here and there in other posts, but it would be helpful if all of the information was in one spot.

Thanks.

Mission Dangler shaft (12-9 flex, 16-13 flex) $39

Mission Wood Synthesis Stick $19

Mission Precision Wood Blade 3 pack (Orange curve) $19

I have the dangler and have had it for 2 years. It's a tad on the heavy side and a bit stiff for my liking (i have the 12-9). I found the 12-9 was closer to a 110 easton than a 100. It's a tank. I've used it for roller, ice and outdoor and it's taken a beating and still performs well. mission uses an "xcore" system. basically that just means there's a wood cross section inside the area where u'd get slashed most. think of a box with an x in it. the shaft is responsive and feel is fine. i can't get much of a shot off it because it's so stiff but that's not the shaft's fault. didn't notice the torque. i like whippy shafts (using a 340 inno now). the outside of the shaft is a bit slippery and twisted when i shot, but i put some wax on it and that helped quite a bit. the graphics on it are wicked though and i've recieved quite a few comments on that.

for 39$ i'd probably pick it up as a backup again but I still have mine and it's just as good as day 1.

anything else?

I picked up a 'metamorphic' (radius-ed shaft) dangler roughly five years ago, and used it for three years. The shaft has absolutely no structural damage at all, despite playing both ice and roller in defence, roughly 3/4 times a week. However, the graphics are nowhere to be seen - peeled beyond recognition! I only had a 10-7 (roughly an 85/90 flex in Easton terms), so can't really comment on how the stiffer models will perform, but mine was absolutely awesome for wrist and snap shots, lots of zip in the shaft even after five years.

My only real complaint would be that I had to candy-cane the shaft as it occasionally twisted in my hands, due to it's smaller diameter. The shaft is a little heavy by today's standards too..

Here in the UK they still retail for about £60 (over $100) - if I had the chance to pick another up for such a low price ($39 is roughly £20!) I definitely would.

Hope I've helped..

The first composite shaft I ever bought was biomorphic 10-7 Dangler shaft. It is a tank that is for sure. I don't use it anymore because it doesnt perform nearly as well as the tapered shafts I got since then. If you are looking for a shaft, I would rather get a converted OPS which people typically sell for about the same price.
