LEAFS SIGN ANTROPOV

Recommended Posts

He is young, yet has played six seasons. He is huge and can skate. He was a 10th overall pick, so obviously he has shown a lot of potential. His best asset is his defensive game. He is a great third liner. Towards the end of last year he really showed a lot of promise. I remember in a game towards the end of last year (I think it was against FLA) he played really well in front of the net and had a sick goal at the end of regulation to win. If he can consistantly do that, hes worth it. Two seasons ago I was ready to end his life. Now I'm wanting him to stay around longer. I keep hoping the next season will be his breakout season.

He will never be a 30 goal scorer or a great offensive threat. Once you come to terms with that, I think he can still add a lot to the team. Apparently Maurice really wanted to keep him on the team because he thought he could work well with his system.

The story I saw had Antropov getting $1 million next season. When you consider the salaries that guys like Laraque ($1.2 million a season) are getting, Antropov starts to look like a pretty good deal.

I really don't hate him as much as my first post implies.. Its just the fact that the Leafs have had one top 10 pick in the last 10 years and it was on him.. but at 1 million you could get a lot worse I guess...

Quinn overrated him to the fullest, he was good the year he came back from the foot injury to play against Philly though. I will wait and see what the terms are before I decide whether or not this is smart. Ideal situation is we get him cheap because of team loyalty and he is used to his actual potential under Maurice.

Also, keep him off Poni's line, they offset each other and bring they pretty much same thing to the team. I wouldn't mind seeing him play on the third line if Poni makes the second, otherwise he should center the fourth line and be Toronto's Gaustad.

I guess 1 million isn't too bad for such an under achiever. Personally I would have released him but with all the old timers on the Leafs team they may want to keep him just in case... Although the Leafs have cleaned house quite a bit as of late but I don't think they've done enough to make them a contender

All the old timers? The Leafs don't have any left. Sundin is 35, and do we still have Luke Richardson? Other than those two, it's a pretty young team.

Hence the fact I said "although the leafs have cleaned house lately"... I should have rephrased a part of my intervention though. I should also have checked their line up I suppose as I don't follow the leafs all that much since I don't like them.. My bad, sorry

So I know this has absolutely nothing to do with Antropov, but I need help from Leafs fans, and I figured I'd revive a dead Leafs thread. I'm going to fly out to TO for a Leafs game this December, and I have a few questions that hopefully y'all can help me with. First off, which day of games would be better to go to? There is a Leafs/Sens game on Dec. 30th, a Saturday which would be sick, but would that be hard to get tickets to? In general, are Saturday games much harder to get tickets for? Also, what is the best way of getting tickets? I'll probably go the eBay route, but I've also had some problems with that in the past. Thanks for all your help.

Ebay or a friend. What dates will you be in town for?

You can also go the scalper route. I think they release tickets at 10am of game-day as well.

If I'm not mistaken, the Leafs put the entire season on sale starting on the same day. My GF wanted Leafs tickets a few years agao...and we went online at 12:00 noon the day tix went on sale (10a) and the only game we could get 2 seats together for was nosebleeds for the second last home game versus Atlanta. She bought them...but we ended up not going and sold them to a buddy of mine.

So when you decidce what game you want...be online the day they go on sale unless you are ready to buy scalpers.

I'm not sure of the dates yet. We're planning the trip around the game, so it isn't set. It should be some time between Dec 15th and the 30th.

I think your odds of getting tickets for Saturday, December 30 against the Senators is almost zero chance. In general, it is very very hard to get any Leaf tickets for a Saturday night. Saturday night is hockey night in Canada. Unless you are willing to pay an arm and a leg to scalpers I would recommend you pick a weekday game. Week days are in general easier to get tickets for

I would say that you have a very good chance in general to get tickets on a weekday via "game day tickets" which are released to the public sometime between 10 am to 2 pm, but I can't see you doing something so risky when you have to travel on a plane.

I hate to say it but you are in a bit of a difficult position because everyone wants to go to a Leafs game during the X-mas holidays.

I say come on out and take your chances with the scalpers. You only live once.

So you're saying that it'd be much easier to get tickets to a game in November or January? If thats the case I might have to check out whats going on MLK Day weekend, see if there is a Sunday or Monday game we can catch.

I don't know if I would say "much" easier, but it is easier. Over the years I know a number of people who have tried to buy Leafs tickets as a holiday present/treat and they have come up empty handed.

http://www.mapleleafs.com/assets/news/leafs_0607_sked.pdf

My friend is on the waiting list for season's tickets. Its been a couple of years and not much has changed. I doubt much will happen because its just too lucrative for people to hold on to them. Go watch 4-7 games a year and sell off the remaining tickets and make a little bit of profit selling them on ebay.

Just out of curiousity how much are you willing to pay ? If you are willing to buy the premium seats I am confident that you can buy tickets at the box office because there are less people willing to $175-250 a seat. Most people go after the $45-88 seats (upper bowl).

By the way the Leafs actually lowered the prices of their tickets this year

Due to lowering of GST

Hahaha, the Leafs didn't lower their price, the GST cuts it down a whopping 1%. I love it.

They called my house asking if we wanted to move up to the Platnums. Loved the cold shoulder we got once they found out we weren't a corporation.

You need to know someone usually for any sort of a decent deal. The only games I been to at the ACC, or hockey in general, have been from guys my dad works with not wanting the tickets.

It is also requires luck, one of my buddies went all out to go see one of Thornton's first SJ games on HNIC while another got tickets to Sundin's four goal game the day of. I would say, get online for when they go on sale or go the scalper route, around the area is packed with them on game day.

is your family seasons ticket holders ?

If so maybe you can help a brotha out ?

He says he won't fly out unless he has some sort of arrangement made up.

I've already been talking to Eazy. I would never expect him to hook me up with his season tickets. Still, he already told me he'd take me out and show me some of TO's finest titty bars.

We actually have a waiting list for our season tickets (yes, the family has them), and I am doing what I can to find him some seats. There is another route too that I am going to try and help him out.

I PMed Kosy after he posted, don't worry, we'll likely hang out when he is down here anyways.
