Destroying wheels

Recommended Posts

I need some help, the most I can get out of any wheel i've tried is 2 sessions. The front ones are just destroyed. Please don't tell me to change the way i skate. Are there any wheels that can take a pounding?

What surface are you playing on? How much do you weight? What are the wheels that don't last anymore than 2 sessions? Are these wheels chunking out?

Well... this may be a stupid question, but did you buy hockey skates to skate on a trail? Bad idea. Recreational skates are made for recreational surfaces. K2 or Solomon maybe, but if somebody in a shop told you that "these are awesome skates," he probably meant for hockey, not a trail.

By the way, it would help if you told us what wheels/skates you're having a problem with so we can better understand your situation.

i HAVE A COUPLE PAIRS OF rec skates. Most of the wheels i've thrown away the ones i found were ultrawheels, kryptonics and kuzak. Do you think a $10 wheel will last twice as long as a $5 one? or any longer at all?

When you're skating on blacktop, a $10 wheel will last the same as a $2 wheel.

How long are you skating for at a time? Do you rotate your wheel after each use? I'm heavier than you and play outdoor hockey on asphalt, and I just buy whatever wheels I can find cheap, and usually go for around a 76a hardness. They don't last as long for me, but they have good grip. I get about a dozen uses out of them, rotating every 2nd or 3rd skate, and don't chunk them too often.

And I remember the Lightnings. Never had a pair myself, but knew lots of people who swore by them. They also never tried a pair of Missions, or even better, Tours.

edit: I suggested hyper pro 250s, labeda asphalts, and RR World Cups in your other thread, but if you're getting suh little use out of 84as, I'd just go for the cheapest wheels you can find. If you're cutting them up that bad, I doubt that you'll even notice a loss in performance.

For skating on asphalt, I might recommend something that is almost solid plastic, something that comes on cheap rec skates. And I don't know, but where are you finding these 10 dollar wheels? What kind are they? Unless you're paying for some kind of performance outdoor racing wheel, I think you're looking in the wrong place. The soft, expensive wheels are for hockey. You should be getting wheels in packs at Sports Authority.

I think Hyper is the way to go. The Pro 150, 250, or 350 are all good choices.
