CCM oxy socks

Recommended Posts

Are OxySox similar to UA socks? I use the long UA hockey socks, but I'm just curious how close they are to OxySox, which apparently are the greatest thing since carbon met stick.

I ordered CCM Oxysox. Will tell you guys what my experience is gonna be.

IMHO, I would not go barefoot. The idea itself is funky, plus bacteria, etc.

That's why they made socks :) But for those who likes it - I guess it is OK.

I don't think NHL players go barefoot, but who knows

That seems crazy overpriced ($16) for a single pair of socks, am I reading that correctly? I believe the same seller still has a bunch of the merrel branded oxysox up for $20/6pairs, which is what I bought. I got the knee high white ones. I like the length and tightness around the calf and the snug fit over the foot. They work well for keeping your feet from getting wet and funky during games and I think they have increased my comfort level in my skates because there isn't any bunching up that I had with regular socks. The socks on ebay are the same thing, they just don't have the logo...only my thoughts though.

Did your Oxysox have a padded sole ? Did yours look like seconds or defects ?I ordered 2x6 pairs of the CCM Oxysox from that guy but have not yet received them yet. I would have bought the Merrels but I think he told me that they had a padded sole which I did not want.

And yeah, they do seem to sell for about $16 or more for a pair online.

There aren't any defects, but there is a small amount of padding I think in the arch and a little in the heel I believe. I like it, but some don't. My footbeds are pretty flat and they've made my skates more comfortable. I tried shock doctor footbeds, maybe they need to be broken in, but I couldn't stand skating in them because I didn't like how my heel was slightly elevated and the thickness irritated me as well.

Oh yeah, while talking about socks.. I got these Easton Synergy Skate Socks and i noticed that they dont work out on Superfeets. Maybe its jsut me, but it felt like couldnt get "grip" and it was a weird feeling.

How do the Oxy's perform with the superfeet?

I also can add that I purchased my CCM OXYSOX from hockeygiant.com and they seem to be overcharging for shipping. 1lb package, ground they charge $13+.

I found another site that has free shipping on 75 bucks order. Most likely Won't buy from hockeygiant in the future.

The shipping usually includes the cost of handling, i.e. the cardboard box, tape, and any packing materials if needed, as well as the cost of labor to pack the item.

I would go with large for you. I wear Medium with 8.5 skates and they're perfect. You have to remember they are meant to be tight, too.

Does anyone know which version of oxysox is the one that ccm puts their name on?

Oxysox

I'm guessing the 129 Oxysox II maybe from the looks of it, but the 125 Oxysox looks like it would work well as a skate sock, and it recommends it for skating the the description. And the one below it, the 130 Max Ice, has the NHL shield below it so i guess it could be that one too but i thought the CCM version came over the calf...

I've always skated barefoot as long as i can remember, but i'm starting to get a little annoyed when they break down and smell after 4 months of usage so i figured i'd give these a try...

I just started using the CCM ones and found they were much thicker than I had expected. These cause me a little discomfort when skating, perhaps because I was used to wearing really thin socks. I don't really notice a difference in fatigue or energy after skating for 2+ periods.

I have been using these for a while, but honestly don't think they offer any advantage to just regular socks...they are nice and thin and keep your calf compressed pretty well, but all that stuff about increased blood flow seems like hype to me. The main reason I wear them is just because I dropped the 20 dollars on socks so I might as well use them when I play. Of course I am also currently switching between 2 pairs of skates, neither of which fits me too well...once I get some new, good fitting skates, I'll let you guys know if I notice a difference.

You're right, the CCM one looks exactly like their model 129. I personally think model 125 sounds ideal as it sounds like it should be thinner. The CCM sock - if indeed the same as the 129 - is a little thicker than I had hoped. I took a chance on the CCM socks because I could get 6 pairs cheaper from the guy on Ebay than I could buy a single pair online elsewhere. I figured at that price it's worth a flier. I ended up buying 12 pairs, but if he ever lists the model 125 I will be buying those.

Never thought I'd write this much about socks, but...

I recently purchased both the Merrell and the CCM versions from that person on eBay. Color aside, the Merrel description on eBay was identical to the 150 model desribed in the Oxysox web page. The CCM description was similar as well, except it did not indicate a padded bottom. Disregarding color (again), the only difference I see b/w the 150 and 129 is the % of CoolMax.

I received them the other day, but have not used them yet. From just visual inspection and trying them on in the house, the Merrell sock is thicker than the CCM. It's most notable in the padded bottom. It's not as thick as new cotton athletic socks, but it's still thicker than any sock I've used with skates (I normally use the "Bauer Technical Liner"--relatively thin, tight, knit arch support, over-the-calf).

While thinner than the Merrell, the CCM was thicker than expected (thicker than the Bauer). It does not seem to be knit as tight around the arch support area as the sock pictured at Hockeygiant (also, it does not have the NHL logo on the shin or red stitching near the toe).

When trying them on with skates, the Merrell sock is just too thick. (Luckily, I can probably put them to good use in other activities). I like my skates tight all over (toe barely feathers the cap when laced), and these cause my feet to be severely cramped. The CCM is tight as well, but probably manageable. I may save these to use when my skates get older (i.e. once they start to feel a little loose).

One of my socks has a hole in the heel, but i did not notice it when i put them on. After the practice, i got me a freakin blister just in that area where the hole was.
