Suspenders Anchor On Pant Broke

Recommended Posts

My Tackla Hockey Pant has popped one of the anchors for the suspenders. The pants are still in great shape and are about 1 year old. I called the LHS that I purchased them from and the kid who answerd the phone told me to bring the pants to a local cobbler for repair.

Any other suggestions?

Thank

The repair depends on how intact the fabric is around the hole where it came out. I would just get a needle and some strong thread and sew it up yourself. Just slip the back side of the button back in the hole and just sart stiching the hell out of it to close the hole in a way that the button can't come out. Tie things off every once in a while. Then stich some more. It doesn't have to look good because it won't show under a jersey.

The cobbler (shoes and leather) could probably do it, but so could any seamstress or alterations shop. I still think you could do it yourself.

Talk with the manager of your local hockey shop. If they do any rivet repair then they should be able to replace the suspender holder too. I've done plenty of them.

Found this old topic which applies to the dilema I am facing. Is there any place I can get the suspender button to replace the one that broke? I asked my LHS and they had never replaced one before and didn't know any place in the area (wash, DC) that did.

thanks.

JoAnn fabrics or any fabric store has them. I think your local wally world might even carry them if it's a bigger one. Ask for a suspender button, bring your broken one for comparison. My wife replaces these all the time (she repairs equipment on the side) and it literally takes a button, a pair of pliers and 3 minutes. If the hole that button goes through on your pants is torn, just move it a little to the side and punch a new hole there.

UPDATE: The Mrs. says they're called "bachelor buttons" sometimes and they should cost you $2-$4 for a box of 6 or so.

We ordered a bunch of extra buttons from Tackla back in the day. Its something convienent to have and its easy as cake to install.. I dont think a lot of pro shops would carry them but theres always a chance.
