deadmanjolt 1 Report post Posted December 3, 2006 Hey all, couldn't find any opinions on the Rbk 4k roller. Anyone use it? Utter crap, slightly better than PF2, great value? Also considering Mission He550 and Nike Flexlite6. I'm not playing league, I just need new roller blades to replace my 96 or earlier size too large lightnings. Mostly will be used for sticktime when the rink is available. I will be skating on concrete for any hockey happenings.
Smitty34 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2006 I used to have Mission Heliums...they were the worst piece of crap that I've ever put on my feet. I just got the 4k...a breath of fresh air. The are very light and they fit my feet perfectly...I got them off of www.Inlinewarehouse.com for $139.99. They were stiff at first (as always), but after using them twice, they broke in quite nicely. It has the "skatelock" which helps keep the laces tight...It took me a second to get used to locking and unlocking it, but it's pretty easy to do. It also has a good venting system. I recomend these skates...they feel great.Hope that helps!Smitty34
hooshockey77 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2006 I picked up the Helium 550's earlier this season off of hockeygiant for $55. So far they have been good skates for me but i know a lot of other people have had problems with them.
DamnLocust 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2006 Coming from the lightnings, almost anything designed for hockey will be an improvement, especially if the lightnings are the wrong size. Since you're looking to save some money, I'd suggest going with a closeout model skate from last year. The '06 Missions are going for cheap, and the same goes for the tour "Max" line. The Blue max are a top level skate and seem to be available pretty widely on the 'net. EBay is always a good source as well.

sdcopp 1 Report post Posted December 6, 2006 For the price range you're looking at, the Mission HE3500 is likely the best skate available. The HE series with the hundreds numbers were terrible (550, 750, 950) but last years models with the thousnads (3500, 5500, 7500) were very good. If you are looking at only new then that's what I personally would recommend, as the frames on the lower end RBK and CCM skates bend extremely easily and are prone to it from just tightening your wheels.edit: come to think of it, if you can spend a few dollars more, the HE7500 is going for 169.99 on Hockeygiant right now and would probably be the best deal right now. Justin 1933 134 Report post Posted December 6, 2006 The 7500 for that price is a killer deal!!!
rwshockey55 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2006 A buddy of mine has the rbk 4k and less than a season the boot is ripping away from the sole. All in all though he said that rbk will be the only skate he skates on in the future.
