Can i Use a longer skate blade?

Hi guys, I think i have warped steel. I'm currently using size 8EE so the runners are 272. My friend has a brand pair of LSI 280 From 8.5EE skates. Will the half size difference in the boots make a difference? Is it possible to switch to a longer steel? Is it not recommended? Will I run into problems?

You would need to switch the holders, which would mean re drilling the outsole of the skate, it can be done by a good skate shop, but it would probaly be easiest and cheaper to just buy the steel for the 272's than to have new holes drilled and rivited etc.
