Hockey Day In Canada

It's that time of the hockey season: Hockey Day In Canada! Triple header of 3 games featuring Canadian teams only. I think CBC has 13 some hours of coverage on.

Anyone do anything special for it? Better yet, anyone in Nelson for it?

I look forward to it. I've been watching it on Center Ice for the last 3 years. We don't have anything like that here in Jersey, and most likely not anywhere in the US.

It's great to see 3 games...all Canadian teams in action...but I think some of the secondary stuff gets a little tedious to watch.

I mean, how many features on small communities with an old local retired guy that is totally dedicated to the hometown rink can you watch before thay all start to be the same.

Don't get me wrong...I like the idea. It's great that Salmon Arm, and Antigonish and all these other quaint little communities get a spotlight shined (shone?) on them...just, less of the between games stuff...and show me 3 back-to-back-to-back games.

Having said that...I gotta get some stuff done...puck drops at 2:00.

Hockey day in Canada does seem cool. I remember the pond hockey segments from last year which was great.

I understand the Canadian teams playing each other and it makes sense given the day, but original 6 matchups would be more in key historically.

LOL, Theo ... it is very gracious of you to acknowledge that, regardless of what teams are playing, Canada owns hockey! Original 6 match-ups on "Hockey Day in Canada" would be very cool.

It's on in the background until the games start. It's nice to see a few segments, but it does get a little boring like Radio mentioned. I'd like to see them toss in some highlights from say the Canadian team's playoff runs. Say 15 minutes on Edmonton's run last year, then another on Vancouvers in the early/mid 90s. Montreal's cup win in '93, etc...

Enjoy this year guys, because unless the NHL changes its schedule for next year its the last one for a year or two. The North West Division doesn't play either of the Eastern conferences featuring Canadian teams. So while the BoA and BoO may still happen, the Habs and Nucks won't be playing. Its a damn shame.

Well it's a blowout in Ottawa. The Habs deserve this, first time this season that everything is goign against them and it might be a good wakeup call for them.

EDIT: The guy who is at the jumbotron apparently showed a video on the screen (that they apparently show every game) of a Senator throwing a player of the other team (this time the Habs) in the water. We all know the story of Laura Gainey and apparently the Sens just realised their mistake after they showed it and apparently excuses have been made to the Montreal organisation.

i think they did this to force us to watch one of the NBC broadcasts during the same time.

i was able to watch PHI/PIT and LAK/STL, both pretty exciting games.
