Proper way to remove blade from ops

Recommended Posts

so the time has come where i have broken the blade on my dolomite OPS. What is the best way to heat the shaft up and take the blade out so i can use it as a tapered 2 piece? and what tools would i need?

I've found a heat gun and vice can do the trick on many sticks. Never tried that method on a dolomite though. If it's really in there you might need a saw/drill combo to get out the remnants. It's usually not easy, good luck.

I found that it works best to find were the blade and shaft meet and remove the resin from there, so you don't pull away the carbon fiber. Then just heat the fuse point and pull out the blade. I like to hold the blade with my feet and pull the shaft up.

Tools needed - Heat gun and utility knife

you shouldnt need a knife to find the join on the dolomite. I got mine at christmas and one of the blades where lose in it so i grabbed a heat gun and took bout 10 mins. pulled it straight out added more glue then back in. Not sure why there was a block foam/sponge on the top of the blade tho.

also done it with a 5k, 4k and inno 1100. Synergys are made properly so its really hard to get them out.

i got the blade out of my pro dolomite ops.. but it didnt come out so clean..the blade broke right were the shaft meets the blade. i tried to use a screw driver and drill to get the remains out but it looks like there is still more in there. I tried to put a tapered dolomite blade in and it wouldnt fit...any suggestions on how to clear more of the crap away from inside the shaft, because i would really like not to cut it

After I drilled the middle out, there was still more material stuck to the shaft, so I heated the shaft with a heat gun and started to chisel away at the excess material. At first I tried chiseling w/o heating, but it didn't work so well. With the shaft heated, chunks of the excess materal peeled away easily.

what did you use to chisel? and could you reach deeper into the stick?
