Is there anyway to clean micro bearings?

Recommended Posts

I can't find a way to take of the shields? Even if I could get em clean, how do I lube them afterwards? Anyone have info, I would hate to just have to toss em.

Get 608 Bones Swiss bearings... end of problem.

Do these never need any cleaning? I have been looking for a replacement for my micro bearings because my rink never cleans off the floor, and my bearings are only a month old and already slowing down.

You do clean your bearings right?

I play on an outdoor rink with full boards... nets etc. that gets really dirty, aka dirt, leaves, rain. And ive had my Bones Swiss for a year and they're still performing like day one. I clean them on a weekly basis though, pretty simple, takes about 30 minutes. Just need a sewing needle, rubing alcohol and lubricant.

If you go with 608 you'll have better balance and you'll have a cheaper and better wheel selection. Micro bearings are just a fad. And yes the Swiss bearings are very light.

Yes I do clean them or Id say roughly clean them. I just clean off dust from the outside but do not open them up. Ill have to look into the 608's.... thanks!

if there's no way to get the shields off, then all you can do is spray something on the outside and let it soak in afterwards using an oil based lube with a small needle like applicator to get anything in there.

and micros aren't really a fad, they were dying off until the lightest skate race came along and will continue to be until the day comes that people quit worrying about 30-40 grams of weight.

Do you have cheapo micro bearings? The only bearings ive never gotten apart are the factory ones that came on my Missions. The Swiss are amazingly easy.

I have 2 sets. I have the abec 7's that came with my mission type m's. And a set of bsb titaniums. They both just have what looks like black plastic shields, however there is no way to use a pin to get out the ring, as there is no ring. I guess I will try the castrol stuff. I just soaked the abec 7's in alcohol (the whole bearing with shield), and they seem pretty clean now. I think I just need to lube them up.

the black shield is most likely the rubber shield that you can use a safety pin to pry up. It's harder on micros since they shield is smaller and consequently stiffer, but they should come off.

i just got wicked 3s, came with the swiss micro bearings... and they are already poo.

They're stock bearings made in some third world country. Ive got a whole bag of Mission Abec 9 stock bearings, never used, that I can't even give away.

well, i guess this is the one downfall to the skates. because otherwise, ive been thoroughly impressed. these bearings are horrible, and they shouldnt be putting them on their highend skates...

Ã'd try the BSB Castrol Spray on them. It's cleaner/lube all in one.

This worked,

And so did this, thanks.

They are just like new again. They really weren't that dirty. As soon as I finish off my last couple sets of mini bearing wheels I am goinna switch to 608 swiss for the better selection of wheels tho.
