Recommended Posts

Anyone ever try the blade alignment service for your skates which is offered by some LHS?? Is it worth it??? Any improvement noticed?? Thanks.

Nice job Fred, that is exactly what I mean and the store I was referring to.

taken from the website....

* skating using only the inside edges of the blade

* difficulty handling a specific edge using good skating technique

* knee strain or lower back pain

well if the reason you're considering is either of the top 2...look into shims. This would be my solution, but I know my issue lies a lot deeper than my skates. I have a lot of foot and ankle problems.. so I've seen a podiatrist and gotten custom orthotics. They have helped a lot, and if it's not the solution, I'll be shipping my skates out for shims.

Not wanting to thread-jack or anything, but I seem to have a problem like this with an older pair I have been using for outdoor hockey - the outside edge of the right skate will not cut, regardless of fresh sharpenings or how often I take a sweet stick to it - the blade looks straight, but maybe it is an allignment issue.
