Graf Skate Width Compared to Bauer Skate Width

Recommended Posts

Currently I have decided I'm going to be looking at new skates before the next league I've found starts at the beginning of June and I've completely decided on Nike Bauer, while trying to sell my Graf 705s. I've skated in Missions and Bauers before the Grafs and I just felt most comfortable in Bauers, until I got into a pair of 5000s which the shop recommended for me and turned out to be comfortable but when skating inflicted the worst pain I've ever felt due to their being apparently too narrow. After that I went to a different shop and was suggested Graf 705s in their Wide type boot in size 9. I do have a wide, semi-flat foot, not too thick of a foot though. I found that TotalHockey.net has a shop here in Illinois about 35-45 minutes away right down the street where I play indoor Lacrosse so I'm probably going to go there since I know of no other big/good shops around my area. But before I go I wanted to know what size widths I should be looking at in comparison to my size 9 Wide Grafs. I've heard the Supreme One90s run wide so should I be looking at D or EE width with those, and I've heard Vapor XXX run narrow so again the same question, D or EE. I know I'll have to try them on either way, but if it is recommended to go with the EEs over Ds I'd like to make sure they can get them in stock for whenever I end up going down there to try them on, instead of having to make multiple trips.

thanks

You could also try Jerry's Warehouse and Gunzo's both in the Chicago area. As far as sizing goes, I'm in the same situation as you...the only thing that will tell you for sure though is to just try on a lot of skates in different brands, models, sizes, widths.

Chicago is probably the closest place to me that would have a large enough inventory to do this (yet still 3 hours away)...if you have a good experience at total hockey's shop (was unaware they had one up there), let us know.

Yeah, TotalHockey is right on 75th street near the Darien Sportsplex, which as I'm sure you know is where Gunzo's is located(also where I play Lacrosse), only problem for me is I've never been there early enough to actually look in there, they didn't seem to have much from what I saw, besides some lower end gear, but I'll have to go early and check one of these times, I know I saw One90 skates so I'll have to ask next time I'm out there.

I thought that the Total Hockey store in Downers Grove had a great selection. I just bought a pair of Vapor XXX skates there, and the staff was great. They brought out Supreme One70s, Vector 10s, and Vapor XXXs for me to try on. I tried on a total of six pairs of skates, and walked around in the pair that I ultimately bought for twenty minutes before deciding. Give it a try, and I hope that you have the same experience that I did.

I'm sure they do have a great variety of gear, it looks like it from driving by just trying to spot what I can through the window since they're closed each time I'm down there and their website has a vast amount listed. I was actually saying it looks like Gunzo's was the one with a limited selection. It's good to hear you had a good experience, I hope I get the same. I haven't been to visit many shops since I moved to the area about 1.5yrs ago so I'm excited to find a good shop to go shopping all the time.
