Skate Issues

Recommended Posts

Ok. It's time for new skates. I want to get a good ice hockey skate and convert it to inline. I have always worn Bauers, but now with all of the changes they have made I am not sure what brand I should get. I got a pair of the new NBH Accel Lites and they were too narrow for my feet. Before that I had a pair of Bauer 20-70 inlines in 9D, and they are probably the best-fitting skates I have had. Only problem is the arch is too high for me. It has always been tough for me to find a good fitting skate, as there are no LHS in any of the areas I have lived. I would love to have the luxury of running down the street and trying on everything in the store to find the perfect fit, but the closest store to me that provides this service is over five hours away.

In the past I have worn a 9D in Bauers. I am pretty sure I need a wider skate, but it is hard to find E and EE in many inline models(thats why I want to get an ice boot). I have wide, flat feet with very little arch. I don't want to spend much more than $250. If there are any knowledgeable people around here that could look at the pictures of my foot in the link below and recommend a certain skate brand, model, and width it would really make my day.

My foot shape is somewhat similar to yours, and I've found tour skates to fit my foot very well. Have you had the chance to try a Tour skate? It would also save you the trouble of mounting an inline chassis to an ice boot.

No, I have never tried Tours. I am just such a traditionalist when it comes to skates. I would really like to find a Bauer boot that fits me well, but really I'm just looking for ideas. Thanks for your input. If I get a chance to try some I will.
