Ice vs Inline Boots

Recommended Posts

I was wondering what would be a better skate long term.. Mission Ice Skates converted to Roller (specifically the L7 or Fuel 100 xp) or old school Wicked Lights or 10Ks.

Im talking stiffness, durability, and fit.

I am a Mission skate fanatic. I always use the ice boot and convert them to roller. I presently am using the Fuel XP110 with a rocket chassis for my player skates. For officiating, I use the S400 with the Sprung chassis. I have always preferred the ice boot because of the make-up of them. ie durability, fit. stiffness etc.

I am currently using the 10K but can get last years Fuel 110xp for an incredible price. Think Im gonna put a sprung on it and see how I like it. Thanks.

Anyone else?

IMO ice boots are the best deal in boots for converting. You're not paying for wheels, bearings and spacers, so more money goes into the quality of the boot.

And since I mount them myself, ice holders are way easier to remove than roller.

I'm a big Fuel fan. Just the right amount of yield and not give up in the stiffness. Very comfortable and a great platform for roller.

Ice boots last just as long as roller in our test stable. Hundreds of hours a year.

Sprungster.. whats the easiest way to remove an holder?

I think I can manage to mount the sprungs myself with the website directions, but not sure how to remove the holder without damaging the boot.

I just took some pitch ice runners off of my Mission S400's I punched them out from inside the boot with a hammer and punch. For the 2 copper ones in the rear, I used a small drill bit and drilled them out from the bottom of the boot inwards was quite EZ
