removing grip / wax from hockey

Just bought a Pro Stock Vapor XXX lite stick and it has some added grip on it.

problem is.. there is too much grip for my liking... it's like the ribbed snake grip texture from RBK, but it's little dots and I find it pretty annoying

is there any way to remove that?
